Post here if you’re fed up with having to wait a whole year to fly, and if you’re fed up with having to do Pathfinder over and over again every expansion. And if you just want to go back to being able to buy flight with gold at max level like it used to be for over a decade in this game and was never a problem until Blizzard made it one.
I’m not doing Pathfinder this time, I’m sick of it, and I just want to let Blizzard know it’s not because I dislike flying, it’s because I dislike Pathfinder and having to wait a whole freaking year for it. I’m fed up.
I stopped and will no longer purchase expansions due to Pathfinder and the mandatory reqirement to participate in dungions and raids to achieve it.

Theoretically, would your opinion change if Pathfinder Part 1, put in Day 1 of an expansion, awarded flight for base zones, with further parts awarding it for patched-in zones?
In other words, is your complaint about the Pathfinder system itself, or the arbitrarily long wait time to actually earn Pathfinder?
I’d be willing to try it out personally, but I do really hate the time gated rep grind of having to do Pathfinder. I hate time gated rep grinds in general.
I was willing to try out Pathfinder in WoD, and since then I have not liked having to do it every single expansion.
The latter is my complaint, and I suspect it’s the more common one.
Pathfinder itself is not a problem for me–the problem I have is letting nobody fly until an arbitrary 10 months into the game.
Unless the goal is to purposely prevent flight (which it is, because the requirements are not an accident), why aren’t Parts 1 & 2 available from day one?
You can be grounded as long and anywhere you want. just don’t use a flying mount. I am NOT allowed to play the game in a way that interests me. My flying has been taken away the past 2 xpacs. (WoD was different in that the devs got caught in an outright lie and had to invent pathfinder to give us flying back.)
What I like about being grounded isn’t that I am grounded. It is how it shows world pvp and makes battles more intense without paratroopers dropping on me from the sky’s.
I don’t know, I think it’d be cool if they were to re-assess Pathfinder in all honesty. This time around, it’s not the requirements, those are lazy and boring, not to mention intentionally lowering rep this expansion with that in mind but that it’s also intentionally stretching it out. I am tired of the rep-oriented game design choices they’ve done so many years. Doing Dailies and WQ’s are boring for such a big cool World they’ve constructed.
If they were to put it back as a gold for flying how much would they charge? It would be impossible to find a price that is worth anything to people who played with WOD garrison money farming etc and new or returning players who do not have millions of gold.
In bc it was a grind to get the Gold for everyone because there wasn’t as much money in the economy
I am absolutely positive that if they were to give you flight for gold at max level again, the price would be something outrageous like 100K.
I have my issues with Pathfinder, like how they make us wait several months for the Part 2. But I agree with the philosophy behind it. Do the achievement one time and get flight for all alts that come after.
I would much prefer it if Pathfinder Part 1 awards flight for the zones that releases with the expansion when the achievement unlocks. Or, at the very latest, awards flight at the first content patch (#.1). Part 2 would unlock flight for any new zones that releases with the second major content patch (#.2), and maybe a Part 3 for any new zones that may release in a third major content patch. But the way it is setup now is pure garbage.
I do not, however, want to spend what might be a good amount of my gold that I’d farm up from leveling on flight on a per character basis. That crap can stay in the trash where it belongs.
Then again, I don’t suffer from the bizarre fantasy that I personally direct a billion-dollar company, or that I am so special that a billion-dollar company “should do” what I want.
If I had that fantasy, I’d be “fed up with” Apple and Microsoft before Blizzard. And what about Whole Foods? Don’t get me started…
I didn’t play in legion so didn’t get pathfinder for it. It makes anything in that xpac pretty unappealing. It would be nice of current pathfinder opened up previous ones. After all to get current you had to level through all previous ones once.
All I know is that on my paladin I am the Highlord. I have killed the most ruthless enemies this content could muster but somehow every two years my flying mounts that work everywhere else go retarded in the new areas. Makes no sense to ground us like this.
I am willing to compromise as well. Pathfinder being in the game is fine as long as it is in game day one and we can unlock it as soon as their asinine requirements have been met.
OP, I’ve been advocating MoP style unlock, which was: characters were grounded until max level, the cost of flight was less than you made if you leveled by mostly questing, and the zone the flight trainer is within has to be unlocked by a quest chain. To me, that was almost a perfect system. Flight in MoP wasn’t a grand reward; it was basically treated as a baseline for end-game.
