The systems themselves are bit ridiculous at this point.
I’d thought they’d learned to keep PVE-PVP separate, but nope. So to be specific… depending on spec, the best trinkets are via World Quests, PVP and Mythic +. Each and every one is layered with too much RNG. World Quest trinkets (even after this latest update) are still lagging 40 ilvls behind the rest of my gear; I retired from PVP and simply won’t do it anymore, period, so that avenue is out, and finally Mythic +. I am entirely a slave to RNG here, first I need an RNG key to T.D. or W.M., or I need to hope my friends have one, or then I need to at last resort, opt for the queue. Then I need to complete it and hope that I’m one of the lucky ones to get a piece, or time it so we all get one, then I have to hope that said trinket, which is about 7-10 items deep in the loot pool at least, pops up. Then I can add some more RNG to a bonus roll to repeat that whole process once more.
Then we come to Raid trinkets, which are situational at best and usually only one is good, or only good for a situational (AOE mayhaps).
Then we have the removal of Master Loot and the drop rates being under 20%, so far as I can see from my anecdotal information, but who really cares what the actual numbers are, when you see what’s not dropping for you, over and over and over. Druid has been after a Ward of Envelopment for so long other than LFR… and it highlights the issue even more. Certain gear is thrown at you so much and so often (non-weapons and trinkets) that you’re left scratching your head as to why this slot 13 and 14 are so hard to upgrade, until you realize, it’s a RNG assembly line and you have to run through the gauntlet any number of times to get yourself fully assembled and even then, maybe.
The azerite system, the class design, the class balance, the spec balance, the toolkits, hello Demo still needs to use a Felhunter for an interrupt? It’s absurd and lazy and doesn’t warrant continued feeding of the coffers for said absurdness and laziness.
This will be an expansion long issue unless, cough, they do something already, which they’re not likely to, so it’s very unlikely to change, making any reason to resub very low.
They need to learn to design things that allow each mode their respective rewards and advancements irrespective of the other, sure their can be some cross over, you can PVE in your PVP gear, but I should be able to pursue the better trinkets for PVE, in PVE activity, and be much more target-able than this system is currently.
I mean no offense, but if I can raid fairly well at Mythic level and be into several pieces of mythic gearing, then I shouldn’t also have to be near 2200 CR to get access to the better Mythic ilvl trinket(s). Sure, some people are and can be, but that’s not everyone and when designing systems, you should be making them either truly independent or truly integrated. This idea of integration is poor and problematic.
The idea that Raiding is or should be less rewarding than getting 4 other folks together and running +s all day in terms of gearing isn’t going to lead to anything good, raiders beware. I’m not saying the two can’t or shouldn’t co-exist, but again, the integration needs to be better, which goes back to the drop rate of raid items and/or their quality.
It’s pretty clear if you’ve geared up toons and/or paid attention to others gearing theirs, that there’s certain items in Mythic+ as well as raid. The problem is that ascertaining them are quite different even though their under the same umbrella system.
I received both my 400 Balefire and 370 Mage Fuse (last tier’s 355 too) ALL from the weekly cache, and the 355 was 16 weeks into the tier. The Balefire came about 3-6 weeks into this tier and the Mage Fuse, was a 0, not even a Plus. I can’t negotiate that hurdle blizzard and the frustration of layered RNG over and over and over, week after week is beyond taxing. It’s killed my initiative to play.
