Let me start off by saying I’ve been a supporter of Blizzard since Warcraft 2. That was the first game I played way back in the day and it got me hooked on RTS. From there I went on to play SC and SC: Brood War. After that I went into a phase where I played Age of Empires 2 but was amped to come back to Warcraft 3. I played the crap out of that game and eventually gave WoW a try.
I stayed up all night the first night running from Teldrassil to the wetlands, then to Ironforge and onto Stormwind. I was a new player in a new world. Over the years I’ve had tons of memories made in wow and enjoyed most xpacs. Hell I even had a decent time in WoD even though most players hated it.
But with the introduction of this random loot system known as Titanforging and Warforging I just dont feel like I’m being rewarded. Every piece of gear has this “Meh” feeling to it. I still remember farming my honor weapons back in TBC and WOTLK. Hell I think PvP was at its best in Pandaria.
My point is… This game has no feeling of reward for my time. Everything is randomized and I hate it. I’ve been pondering it for a while and I’m currently exploring other MMORPGs. Sadly I feel like it may be time to say goodbye to WoW. This gearing system is trash and I feel like most players would agree. Any suggestions for new MMORPGs?

Sad to say I can agree to you that gear reward feels less amazing in these recent years.
However, if that’s important to you, SWTOR’s gear will make you feel beyond important in the end-game raiding/Ops scene. 248 item level gear in that game is leagues beyond the strength that my free-to-play/Preferred-status account has at 220 item level.

Yea I miss the “salad days” of BC and WOLK when you could grind out badges with a goal in mind. I dislike the gambling feel now.

My wife and I felt the exact same way. After both playing since early TBC, this just isn’t the great game we fell in love with. It’s less than a shadow of its former self. We’ve since cancelled our subs as well as my daughters, at her request, and we’ve all moved to Final Fantasy XIV and honestly haven’t looked back.
Unlike Blizzard lately it seems the production team on FFXIV actually listens to their player base and works alongside them to create awesome content.

I know we’re getting a warfront currency next patch. That’s a good start but this game needs some non RNG alternative again like it used to have.
Bring back justice/valor points and honor/conquest with vendors.
Stop pushing mythics on players that don’t want to do it. There’s more than enough people who like it. There’s n o reason to push it on players who don’t like this content.

Can I keep your towel?
I understand how you feel. Although legion was a decent expansion there is when the loot started to get a bit too random for my taste. You were no longer able to farm weapons through PvP, you had to do an endless amount of task to maybe get a legendary every week, profession had the most random stats ever (started in WoD) and guess could be very meh or way too strong because of titanforging.
They have exchanged the progressing system for a slot machine, which may look like doesn’t require anything to work but it consumes your most precious resource, your time.

I’ve actually been thinking about picking up Final Fantasy. I used to be in love with FFVII, FFIX, and FFX. Is there any references to those games?

D: No mention of 8?! Really?! D:
As for FF14, I think there’s some references here and there in the forms of bosses or other. I don’t know personally, never played it.

I’m actually taking a break from wow and am trying out FF14 for the first time.
Pretty impressed so far. Although I feel like a new born babe trying to solve a Rubik’s cube puzzle. Thank god for the wiki.

I mean. If you don’t do content that gives upgrades, and only do trivial content hoping for a WF/TF…I can see why it would get boring and feel not worth your time.

Aye. They’ve definitely crossed the line when it comes to the layers of RNG. May as well call it World of Gamblingcraft at this point. Quite sad really.

One of my biggest issues is the reward to effort ratio. I can semi afk through a warfront for a 370 piece, but a +6 key is only giving me loot for the scrapper.

The issue with all this is that Ion gave stats and hope comparing this RNG to a system where some players would never see the item at all. But I’d rather chase that carrot knowing that if it dropped it’s exactly what I was going for instead of a piece of gear dropping now and being like " dam, no gem and wrong 2nd stats."
I also don’t know why they did away with need greed pass system. All they had to do was take away master looter to protect players. Now we have to have people /roll, open trade and pause to do all of this or wait until end of the run and not equip upgrades that could’ve helped.
I just don’t understand why Blizzard is continuing to back pedal. I really think it’s as people say. I don’t think they play this game themselves. I’d much rather chase a piece of specific loot, hit up a jewelcrafter to craft a gem slot or two onto it, let an enchanter enchant every piece of gear (possibly with cool effects), another profession dude to pick 2nd stats. Blacksmith to add armor bonus, etc. I don’t understand why they ever took all that away from the professions. It was a lot to maintain but that also kept communities together. Sometimes you didn’t like someone but you would grin and bear it because you had access to what you needed.

I love the part where you go on your alt to try and gear them up and keep getting the same slot drop every time. This game is tired and I’m tired of it be back sometime if they can fix this mess of a game. " If " *starts holding breath…/dies

I have to admit if there were SET rewards Id be more apt to actually do crap in the game more than I do.
This ‘will it/wont it’ random crap really kills the desire to play.
Id much rather see small increments of increase than this RNG garbage.
So when I run a quest or raid or 5 man and I get something it wont be random crap I have no use for, but will be something that might just be a meager +5ilvl or whatever to some piece of gear.
Id almost rather see tokens being awarded that were +X to a piece of gear I already have. So my wrists are 275 and I can use the token I just got to increase the wrist to 280.
Each time you run a dungeon or raid you at least get some small increase to something with a daily limit to it.
Be a much better system than this where you can run for days and days without anything of interest dropping for a character

Been there enough. Had three drops be nearly the same stinking crap at a point. Not the exact same, but close enough and entirely useless other than to scrap.

If you do go, then travel safe and land where your heart can be free.
And yes, let us know where that new place can be.
Sits in the growing silence, quietly hoping.

Final Fantasy XIV is happily accepting all WoW refugees. Enjoy lore and storyline? We have the best. Player housing? Yea we got that. Crafters want to have a purpose? Yep got that. Their starting a campaign for crafters to rebuild part of one of the cities that when complete will become player housing. Plus new jobs and classes.

i thought about quitting a few times.
as i get older and busier sometimes i find myself questioning the point in paying for my sub.
and not to insult anyone else here, i get to thinkin about the $15 a month cost and feel its small enough to just let my sub keep going. Why? because every now and than ill get the urge to play and i always want to be able to. Ive been a solo player since WOD and enjoy the break from life once in a while. WoW still kicks a$$. For me its the best game i play and its only 15 clams… so yeah, im not goin anywhere anytime soon.
