Possible to stop quests from auto-accepting?

I noticed this before I stopped playing WoW previously; now, it seems like every single quest-giver you speak to automatically updates your quest tracker with their quest. Sometimes you just seem to end up with quests in your log that you have no idea where they came from! Ok, maybe a SLIGHT exaggeration.

Bottom line, it’s annoying as all get-out, especially for someone with OCD, to talk to a quest NPC, get slapped with a quest, then have to actually open the log and abandon the quest.

Is there ANY way to go back to the old tried-and-true “I must click the accept button to accept the quest”?

Wait til you get the ones you can’t abandon! Those are the best!

Do you have an example quest that does this? Maybe ijust dont even remember what it is that happens when i play but i can’t think of any quests i dont have to choose to accept for.

The classic “deal you can’t refuse” type quests are the automatic popups as you enter an area (or log into one). These are ones like the zone invasions, where as long as you’re in the zone the quest applies to you have to accept the quest. “Decline” isn’t an option, accepting and then abandoning doesn’t work (you get offered the quest again), and the only answer is to accept the quest long enough to get out of the area and then abandon or decline the quest.

Or do the quest, since the devs made it so hard to refuse.

Yes, there are those, and then some items pop up a quest on the right side which have to be accepted, though they can be abandoned. But op is specifically talking about quest givers you right click on who automatically give you a quest, and he makes this sound common. I dont know of any quest givers that do that. Makes me wonder if he doesn’t have an addon auto accepting for him.
