Just lost a lvl 60 due to my group panicking and petri-ing instead of fighting their way out of an easily winnable situation. Unfortunately for people who don’t enjoy the petri flask meta, the solution isn’t as simple as “just don’t use them”, because as I’ve experienced, when your group can just pop their get out of jail free card and bail on you, it kind of forces you to use them, or you will die. Because of this end game is basically off the table if you don’t want to pop petris, because it won’t be long before you’re soloing a pack of elites by yourself while your former group members are waiting to get safely teleported out. So here’s a possible solution:
Give us a soul of iron style buff that you can only obtain/keep if you have never used a petri flask and have it prevent you from being able to use a petri if you have the buff. That will allow people who don’t wish to participate in the petri meta to form their own guilds and communities where a new meta can develop, and people who are okay with the current meta can choose to not get the buff and keep popping petris. Everyone gets what they want.
I find it interesting thinking about being in a group which all participants know ahead of time cannot petri.
People can still choose to abandon a fight and attempt to save their character in other ways, I do not think think this would force people to fight against unwinnable odds like you suppose.
Light of Elune > Hearth
Bubble/BoP/Sacrifice mechanics + running to evade terrain or instance doors
Leave group and kite for 1 minute
There are other ways people will attempt to abandon an un-winnable situation instead of dying for glory.
Easy, start your own guild and have all dungeon and raid runs require you to not use a petri
Surely there’s at least 20 people out there that would love to run raids and dungeons without them and then everyone else outside the guild can use them.
Meh everybody has to play my way. I dont want to create my own guild and do the work cultivating my own community of like minded players who also hate petri flask. Meh.
stop trying to make this about anything other than people wanting an obvious exploit fixed it has nothing to do with building your own communities or whatever nonsense you are trying to deflect to.
If you dont want to use them, dont. It bothers you because you are immature. I dont raid in hardcore dont even have a 60!
I am actually very impressed with these players its a real accomplishment the raiding they are doing on hardcore.
Because of the nature of how wow works, without this petri mechanic, they would likely not be able to do these raids efficiently.
In anycase you and everyone else against it sound like cornballs. You sound like a salty hater.
You want to raid without petri then do it. Find a group of like minded, skilled maniacs and do it. I support you, but dont act like a salty cow because they are doing what you wish you could do.
Yes people would still try to escape and theres nothing wrong with that. But instead of clicking their guaranteed safety button and dropping group to ghetto hearth with zero risk of dying, they, and their party now have to use the tools available to them to escape.
“Someone using a petri does nothing to my experience, nothing at all”
This is true during the leveling process, but at 60 it is currently not viable to play without using petri if everyone else uses petri, as per my example above. If you decide not to use Petri at 60 other people using petri absolutely impacts your experience, and entirely changes the way that the game is played
the point is to not have it as a possible option and ensure no one in the group has used one, same reason the self found buff exists. would also legitimize it for people.
As long as there are random, unannounced changes to mechanics, like Ossirian suddenly teleporting players to him, changes to boss vulnerabilities, new high level mobs where they never existed, then its completely fair, even required, to have something like petris in the game.
As for petri. I’m down for once a week limit (otherwise people will grief raids).
Petri is #1 reason we don’t see raid griefs.
Due to the “no appeals ever crowd” if you get rid of petris you kill raiding, forever. They’ll always be that one guy looking to wipe the raid and make a viral video.
I’m actually quite sure the most loud mouthed people on reddit, x and forums about petri flask removal are the very same ones looking to grief a raid.
good idea. these people begging for legal intervention are weak. be a man of your word, form a group with likeminded individuals, embrace the pain of possible betrayals and cowards.
