Midnight:
Love to see ogre for the horde and probably like satyrs for the alliance
Also Ethreaels could totally be a neutral allied race
Tuskarr. Give me my walrus man, man.
Ogres
There isnāt a single valid case to be made against playable Ogres, strictly none
Already foreshadowing Mokānathal. I would expect that before ogres, but Iām cool with either.
I suspect Blizzard will repeat another High Elf / Void Elf scenario and make Mokānathal playable as a way to āshut upā the playable Ogre requests.
Blizzard will probably also repurpose the Kul Tiran rig too. Given that Rexxar uses the Male Kul Tiran skeleton.
What I want is Saberon.
WHAT! THERE ARENāT SABERON IN QUESTS!
I think meeting us halfway on the Ogre thing by giving us Mokānathal would be a fair enough compromise. And generally the ones that have been asking for ogres since the alpha of WoW are uhā¦shall we say less likely to throw a hissy fit than when Blizzard didnāt give the Alliance high elves.
Meh, iāv always just wanted to make a two headed ogre, canāt do that with a mokānathal
But why meet us halfway ??? There is no need for a compromise, just give us Ogres. Mokānathal would even require more work and ressources for their implementation than Ogres arguably. Ogres have it all, the lore (ancient lore, faction membership lore, class loreā¦) is already there, the (male) model is already there, the animations for the most part are already there, the starting zone is already thereā¦ The only thing thatās missing is Blizzardās willingness to do it (for some weird, unidentified reason).
I absolutely wouldnāt be satisfied with Mokānathal, if you wanna make Mokānathal playable then give Orcs (or Ogres) the fitting customization options and call it a day, lmao
Sethrak. I wanna play danger noodle people
I like Mokānathal more than ogres, personally. It at least sidesteps the issue of us all playing miniature versions of something, which will either be a hanging question or necessitate some strange lore contrivance.
If ogres were to become playable, blizz would have to shrink them down just for gameplay purposes. So that they could fit inside buildings, cave entrances, tight dungeon spaces, etc.
And Iām sure that will upset people for a whole other set of reasons
I mean Ogres are Tauren-sized lorewise so thereās definitely no issue here
How would Mokānathal require more work? Given that Rexxar uses the male Kul Tiran skeleton, it would stand to reason that Blizzard would use the female one for female Mokānathal. Meanwhile for Ogres they would have to create a new skeleton for female Ogres. And the lore reasons are pretty much the same for Mokānathal. I mean some even showed up in the Orc Heritage armor questline. Such as Leoroxx, Rexxars father. If Blizzard gives us more core races down the line, then Ogres should be one of them. If they give us more allied races, then I can see Mokānathal being one.
The only one that needs added is Vrykul.
Iād play an ogre in a heartbeat
Make them really despicable. Donāt give us the good Sethrak. Make them alliance version of Forsaken. Have them be constantly plotting global takeover and desert terra forming
They really should just make them the same size as tauren, the average ogre is the same size as a tauren either way in the lore.
Iād love Sethrak, imagine an united zandalar with the vulpera, sethrak and zandalari trolls. We already know theyāre on friendly terms as there are sethrak in Dazarāalor, and that one sethrak we met in tww that said sheās been to Orgrimmar.
They could totally reuse the Kul Tiran skeleton for Ogres as well, so thatās not a problem. Male Ogres already have a preestablished design and model, Mokānathal donāt (unless they just give Rexxarās model to every male Mokānathal, but I donāt think theyād be okay with Rexxar not having a unique model).
For the lore, my point was that Ogres already have a very rich lore and wouldnāt necessitate much of a story setup : they already have a long history of being in the Horde, very solid amount of content in terms of worldbuilding/ancient lore/culture, as well as surprisingly well-established class lore and class identity (Ogre Mages, Gladiators, Earthbenders, Twilight Hammer Warlocks, even Lightbound if the playable group includes some AU Ogresā¦). Basically, they would need as little work for their narrative implementation as the Dark Irons did : just a fairly short questline about making their membership official and weāre good to go.
I go with Ogres, Forest Trolls, Sethrak, Arakkoa, Vrykul, Taunka, Mogu, Hozen, Jinyu, Mokāthanal, Cat People, Bunnies, Fel Orcs, Ethereals, Broken, Furblogs, Haranir, and etc. Of course more Elves if Midnight ever happens.
