I wont say where but there is a certain area in the game in which I have noticed a large number bot players farming mobs that drop an usually high amount of gold.
While normally there is nothing wrong with killing npc’s for gold, I was curious if this would be considered an exploit due to the large number or bots standing in one location killing the fast respawning npc’s for raw gold?
I wouldn’t say exploit, farming mobs that drop gold isn’t a exploit even if they drop a lot. However botting is against the rules and if you’re sure they’re doing it, then you can always go there and report them, but not for exploiting, for cheating.
It’s not a bot if someone is behind the controls. I remember standing on a certain ledge with a balance druid in Tanaris and moon-zapping the rapid spawn Naga and then collecting the gold and loot. It’s not an exploit, it’s problem solving.
Boomkin AoE farming isn’t an exploit, but if there are multiple boomkin with gibberish names running predetermined paths… you’ve found yourself a botter. Report them to kingdom come and kill them if you can.
I’ve run into a bunch of Boomkin bots for MONTHS doing this exact same thing in a WoD zone with WM on. They were very clearly bots with the path they constantly took and didnt ever divert from, as well as not responding to being attacked.
Every once in a while, the bots would break upon ressing and would AFK, but as soon as AFK logged them out, they would instantly log back in and resume the path.
If you managed to knock them off the ledge into the water, their programming would keep them bouncing up and down in the water and keep them from going AFK for hours.
I sent many tickets about these bots, and even make some videos about them. Finally, a GM told me to contact Hacks@Blizzard and give them all the info I could on these bots.
Pretty sure they are still around though, or have just moved to a different location :l
On the bright side, they did get me my Worgen Slayer title! 1-max kills just off the bots. Wish I could rename it to Bot Slayer though.
I saw something like this a while back in Hellfire Peninsula. A large train of horde death knights, all from different servers, were following the exact same circular path near the ruined Alliance settlement at the edge of the zone killing mobs. They would “aggro” onto hostile mobs and no matter how far away I dragged one of these mobs, they’d return to that perfect precision path after it died.
Multiboxers are a thing but I think this was very clearly an instance of a bunch of different people using the same botting software. I reported them but never checked to see if they disappeared.
I can more or less guarantee it. Blizzard doesn’t care about multi-boxing botters because their multiple accounts are more valuable to them than your one.
