Okay so here it goes. I’m completely new to WOW and decided to take it seriously for the first time. I wanted to learn what the end game was really about and how players that compete on the highest level, actually play the game.
Upon reaching end game I was introduced to mythic + by some friends and was also introduced to the bandwagon stance that mythic + is TOXIC, ridiculous, bad, etc.
At the time of writing this ive reached mythic rating 1864 and ilvl 616 as a tank. While I acknowledge I have some privilege in the form of queue times being a tank, I also have the added responsibility of having to know the routes for each dungeon, mob %'s, etc. As a new player this was really daunting to me.
Where is this going? I went in thinking I was going to get flammed for being bad, blasted for sucking, told to uninstall or quit the game. Instead the vast majority of my pugs have been really pleasant. I’ve met alot of people who are really patient when I don’t know everything or are willing to take some time and provide context to make me a better player.
If this describes you, keep it up. I think life’s too short to waste time being vitriolic to people, especially on an online video game.
For me, having these experiences have changed how I feel about mythics and make me want to dish out some of what I received to the next wave of new players. Hope this message reaches who it needs to.
M+ toxicity is more common at the more difficult keys. So, for now, is something at +10~+12 range.
And often tanks are the preferred “victims” of it. Especially if someone disagrees with the route, because some team at MDI or some streamer do different or something.
I don’t about you but I’ve had the most horrendous experience of all season since m+ was introduced.
I hav become that toxic players due to the frustration caused by:
An absolute amount of declines, so it takes like one hour to find a game.
Key is bricked, the piece of loot is not what I needed so there goes an hour plus the duration of the dungeon absolutely wasted.
People is terrible at the game and this sucks particularly at keys +7s and above, since one death means 3, so If someone is underperforming and also dying a lot there goes the key, literally uncarriable
Shortage of healers and tanks and oh boy I can see why people hate those roles… I don’t think theyve suck this hard in years.
Thats it to sum it up a little. I’m really really considering to just give up and unsub for the totality of the expansion, it’s just not fun.
That’s not my experience at all throughout the last couple expansions. When you get into higher stuff there’s generally an understanding you’re more likely to fail than succeed.
That’s usually the case. Most cases of toxicity tend to come from those pushing higher than what they are ready for and they look to blame others whenever anything goes wrong regardless of if the mistake was theirs. Would often see it in the bands of ratings where people are at a higher rating than 50% of the people but not even close to having an actual high rating.
When crossing into the high keys, people tend to get more chill even when things go wrong.
100% - I spend more time staring at Dornogal than queuing for keys because I don’t want to heal M+.
Its not fun. Unavoidable damage is as punishing as the avoidable damage in past expansions, and avoidable damage is just a 1-shot.
So as a healer, you have a ton of pressure. If someone dies, even if its not your fault, you feel bad. You feel like you failed, even though its the other guys fault… then the Toxicity kicks in and you get blamed for their mistakes.
Idk, I just finish 2 +10’s with ALOT of toxicity in chat.
One of it was actually on time, which is funny because people are getting enraged even with a party that actually happens to beat the timer at the end LMAO.
This is the reality. I’ve been in keys today where we ended up 2 chesting it, but someone missed a kick and the 2600 tank on his alt decided to let us all know we weren’t on his level or something.
People are only toxic if ur really bad at the game.
Have you ever thought about how you should probably look up mechanics on WoWhead prior to running a dungeon??? its M+ not mythic raiding. My literal 6 year old sister knows mechanics to m+ dungeons. Ppl who claim there are toxic ppl in M+ have extremley low IQ / and are too lazy to learn mechanics.
“durrrr its a game i want to have fun now”
“durrrr why is everyone mean to me”
these people should probably walk off a cliff (I for one would be very happy)
