Hey Blizz, I became aware that there has been a lot of complaining about devourer (surprise surprise)
I just wanted to counterbalance that a little by making a post about how much I enjoy its rotation and feel. There are some minor inconveniences like it being one of the few classes that really need to ramp up and missing out on heroism/lust on pulls, but I wouldn’t trade it for a flatter damage profile. (If anything it just helps you ramp to your first meta faster).
But really I enjoy the amount of mobility and there isn’t too much or too little utility. I hope you continue to rework older classes and use Devourer as inspiration. I’ve been playing for a long time and I typically enjoy the higher APM classes and specs. Even though it is a caster, the ability to move when casting consume feels really really good. It gives that fury warrior feel without every key press giving immediate response.
Getting those collapsing stars off feels so frighten good when you throw it in the middle of a group of mobs. Part of me wonders if you couldn’t add a talent to make it a targeted area cast instead of casting it on your target, but I don’t think it would make much difference.
The aesthetic and theme is totally badass as well. I can’t wait for the .5 patch so we get the void eyes as well. Anyway, keep it up. 9.5/10 imho.
I’ve been loving this spec. Even in higher keys and mythic raiding it feels like it works so smoothly. Very little if any issues with mechanics disrupting the rotation and you get so many stars in AoE I feel like I’m dropping nukes.
There was a moment when I pinged 90 and the character felt really weak where I was like, I made a mistake leveling this toon. But now that my gear and stats are better I do really enjoy the spec.
What I don’t like. Collecting orbs, the collapsing star cool down when interrupted and the initial ramp up at the beginning of a fight when people lust right away.
??? Utility compared to what? Dev DH doesnt have any interesting utility compared to other specs especially in pvp. The best thing we have is AOE stun but most specs have multiple stuns\aoe stuns.
I mean compare it to the last mid range caster dev evoker we dont even have utility even close to what they have. They have a way better AOE stun\other interesting utility. Its not even close.
Thankfully 2/3 of these things won’t really be as much of an issue in two weeks. Collecting orbs isn’t really optimal in the first place unless you’re specifically accelerating to a void ray, and we’re going to be playing manual soul immolation instead of automatic which offers a lot more up front ramp (And you should probably already be running this in M+ anyway).
Yeah over capping on the way into meta can be annoying, but for star it doesn’t tend to matter. Star costs 30 but you can hold up to 40 souls during meta, so some overflow is allowed.
