I know these posts have been done to death a bit, but I’m curious to see your best personal experience thus far. It doesn’t have to be anything drastic, just something minor that felt awesome. For me, it was acquiring my first wand on my lock, I feel so much stronger with it! Dot dot dot, wand whip, dead mob. No problem!
I was waiting around for a long-timer enemy spawn in Silverpine (Nightlash) with about 50 other players when one prankster decided to lure a Son of Arugal over to the group of fledgling 10-15s.
It was a bloody massacre, but in the end the beast was felled.
I got a kick out of watching the original player hop over the corpses of dozens of other players to loot the mob.
Not sure where to start… everything from players helping me down extra mobs that aggro to me. Random buffs thrown on me in passing. A few greens traded to me for no reason other than: “Hey, i don’t need this.” To having to ASK people to take the green that just dropped from a chest. Had a group of 5 spend 15 minutes of their time helping a random and me kill a rare. For no other reason than it was a nice thing to do.
There’s something in the water. I have no explanation for any of it… but the community that is forming is fascinating. I’d love for someone to really break down what’s happening right now… But people just seem HAPPY.
Seeing Elwynn Forest and its questing areas engaged with players the same level as me, dying while questing because more than one mob was aggroed, and seeing players helping other players out.
Playing with my son and seeing him experience and learning what I did in 2004 just a few days after he was born. It’s pretty cool to play with your kids and watching them experience what you did. I won’t let him use addons right now either so that he gets the real Vanilla experience.
I asked my son yesterday, “So far which do you like better retail or classic?” He quickly said “Classic”. The main reason is that it’s just a harder more dangerous world. You might actually die in classic as he just found out when he got chain agro from some Razormain Quillbore. Making the game easy (In the sense that that the mobs hardly hurt you) in retail is the real problem. Not that they don’t die fast enough, it’s that you never really were in danger unless you’re trying to kill 8 mobs at one time.
I haven’t really had any bad experiences so far the only “negative” thing id say happened to me was somebody got mad i was tagging mobs in Fargodeep mine on launch day and they /spit me and i don’t really consider that to be that bad, plus there was so many other people in there on the initial launch day.
I had a nice time earlier helping a Rogue and Druid kill some murlocs in Darkshore and grouping up to do an escort quest. I also enjoy doing drive-by buffs and while i was waiting for my tank friend to log on i sat at the Redridge flight master buffing people and healing people who were killing the boars and whelps nearby.
I was also running around Stormwind doing the same just giving random buffs to people i ran past, i’ve gotten a lot of thank-yous, waves and cheers just by buffing people and it feels nice, as i was writing this i was waiting on the boat from Darkshore to Menethil Harbor and i got thanked, definitely feel as if i’ve had more positive experiences on here than retail personally.
Ya, I had a similar experience when I killed a Rattlecage Skeleton yesterday. I was casting long before the fellow got there and it went off right before he got to the skeleton and he was like, “Seriously” as if I had stolen it from him. I did have some jerk stealing my pumkins as I killed mobs that were guarding them yesterday. (Diablo II where is my hostel button?).
Those dang pumpkins. I had someone /say cuss me out for looting a pumpkin. But hey what are you gonna do ya know? It’s still a great experience
Fargodeep was the “worst” i’ve had like yeah i’ve had some kill steals here and there but they’re needing them to so cant be to angry about that, though yeah the people who just snipe loot when your clearly fighting something in front of it is quite annoying.
If there are no mobs present then it’s FFA IMO, but if someone had to kill mobs to get to a quest item and someone loots it while they are doing the work to their own faction, that’s just a dirt bag move IMO. People like that have no problem ninja looting as they are in it only for themselves. At least it was only one pumpkin and he didn’t sit there trying to steal multiple ones.
Yesterday I was sitting in Crossroads and someone opened trade with me and gave me a stack and a half of +Spirit/Stam buff food. Very nice of them!
Getting lots of drive-by buffs from Priests and Mages too. I wish I could return the favor but I do make sure to target them and /thanks.
Also getting group invites when lots of people are trying to get the same thing done.
I’v been playing with my adult nephew (who is a family man with a full time job) so has limited time to play. It never fails while questing on my hunter that i get drops for hiss priest. Got an intel cape, and cloth shoulders this morning…more loot for him.
I was out questing in Tirisfal and a mage runs by and gives me some pots, what a nice gesture.
I just logged into the Skeram server and was starting my journey in the Gnome starting zone, as those box collect quests are a pain to do with the amount of people playing at the time, and we started a single file line for everyone to get the item. very wholesome and positive moment :))
That feeling when a six-slot bag drops. It’s like getting your first epic. Also, vendor trash that sells for almost a silver, Score!
Just the general community. I’m playing with my boyfriend who is in WoW for the first time ever. That alone is a ton of fun. However, I’ve been delighted by the random buffing and people going out of their way to help others. As a priest, I’ll randomly throw out Power Word: Fortitude and almost every time I’m thanked or buffed back. Thats so neat!
