As we’d hoped, a new companion pet for Christmas. Comes from one of the boxes under Father Winter’s tree in Ironforge (Alliance) or Orgrimmar (Horde). Seems to be a guaranteed drop, though as can only have 1 in Journal, alts will just have to dump theirs.

Although it eats critters, it unfortunately won’t eat the battle pet versions of the Snapdragon Pup–and I’m assuming it also won’t eat the battle pet versions of the Battleboar Piglet and the Pillaged Parrot. You’ll still have to kill those battle pets in pet battle combat if you’re hunting for certain skins or breeds.
If you have several characters and get an Uncommon (green) don’t learn it right away.
On my main I got the Uncommon then learned it. On my 2nd character I looted a Rare. It seems that there are two out there Uncommon and Rare. Sucks because you can’t get rid of the Uncommon once learned so you have to buy a stone to upgrade it.

Can this be looted in 2025?
It’s not under the tree, which Goofle states. Must be a chance drop in the daily?
IIRC, some of the presents under the tree have a chance of spawning old presents. I know I received a couple of old pets this year. Some of them also have a chance of spawning from the daily Greench quest.
Yeah but my thought is the named box that spawns this pet, seems to only be dropping the same two new 2025 items. Every toon once opened it on, same loot. Tiny Snow Buddy and some other blue item.
I’d like to find one person that has had it drop this year comment.
It does not appear to be dropping from anything except the 2024 Winter Veil Gift. It’s not popping up on Wowhead with another source as of right now. This means 1 of 2 things: they really didn’t put it on a loot table for another present; no one who has gotten one also has the wowhead looter addon for their info to populate on the site.
Considering what we know of Blizzard, I’m assuming we’re seeing a Jingles situation. I think it wasn’t available the year directly after it released, either. It was only after community pushback that they added it to the Stolen Present loot table, iirc.

The Winter Veil Gift box always drops the current year’s gift. After that, they’re presumably added to the random loot that either comes from the other boxes or from Greench’s Stolen Gift. As mentioned, that seemingly didn’t happen with the Portentous Present pet.
