Portals in Shadowlands

I don’t think it would be totally unreasonable to have a separate hearth of some sort to get back to your covenant base. In Legion, for example, as a hunter I had access to an immediate flight from Dalaran to the hunter class hall, and other classes did as well. Even if I set my hearth to Oribos, I still have to get to the flight point and then take a separate flight through the In Between and across whatever zone my covenant base is in to get there.

All travelling time issues aside, it just seems a sort of natural extension of the whole Covenant idea to me.

There’s a Covenant upgrade that sets up a 1 way portal to Oribos from your Covenant.

But not one you can use both ways?

You could then set your hearthstone to your sanctum. Boom, the most inconvenient two-way teleport ever devised.

It makes no sense for there to be no covenant sanctum hearthstone. You’re telling me the organization you dedicated yourself to didn’t bother to give you easy transportation?

When you get your portal to Oribos in your Covenant Sanctum, set your hearthstone there and you’re getting basically just what you want.

As it is, you can use your Dalaran hearthstone, fly for 10 seconds over to the Stormwind portal, walk over to the Oribos portal in SW, and you’re in Oribos is 15 seconds tops using your Dalaran hearthstone.

I have yet to fly to Oribos from anywhere. I always have a hearth available to get there.

I hoped no one would give this obvious but silly (sorry) response. I did say “separate hearth”. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

And again… ‘separate hearth’. English comprehension?

I just hearth to my covenant sanctum. I don’t spend much time in Oribos, the Maw or Torghast.

Si, senor. Y tu?

Would that count as a portal transfer because I only have 7 as of now.

Nah, I only count what I can use at any point in time, such as the Guild cloaks and Hearthstones.

engineering SL wormhole is a blessing

Set hearth to your Covenant.
Buy the teleport cloaks from the Guild vendor for quick trip to Oribos.

Do you mean the Cloak of Coordination. I thought it only sent you to your capital city? As in, Stormwind for me?

I dunno, I thought it was a fair point. I was trying to say, why not have an ability that comes to you with your choice of Covenant that allows you to immediately return to your Covenant sanctum. Separate from any Hearth, which would free your need to put your Hearth there. So you could put it in Oribos or wherever you wanted to place it.

If you don’t think it’s a neat idea, that’s fine. I guess I just thought the idea behind my post was sort of obvious, and would have been handy and tied in with the ‘Covenant loyalty’ thing.

SW yes. Oribos portal is 20secs from arrival point.

This makes it sound like you want a spell akin to those many classes got to access their Order Halls in Legion, except specific to your covenant? (At least if it were a spell, it wouldn’t consume bag space).

Maybe you did, and maybe you thought wrong, but when you come back with snark, you’re just inviting more of it rather than productive conversation.

The snark is coming easier to me with advancing age when people blithely ignore the context of my conversation and simply wheel out the obvious regardless. Rather than giving an opinion on the idea they say something which is, by its nature, a putdown - as in, just use your hearth, as if I’m too dumb to see that option. As I said, I was not talking about a hearthstone but an ability or option tried to the Covenant. Yet that definition keeps getting bypassed in favour of oneupmanship.

But I guess, yes, I should be more patient with people despite all that.

Complete your transportation network then set your hearth to the covenant. You can zap yourself “home” with the hearth. A completed transport network will have a portal to Oribos. Wormhole generator for SL is also a life saver if you have engineering.
