Port 6881 Question

I’m getting activity on my router logs that show that LAN access is being granted via a port that is open for the Blizz Downloader.

I did some lookups on the IP’s that are connecting and noticed they were all countries out of the US. Should I be concerned about this activity and can I close that port so I don’t have unwanted connections? (pretty much a networking/security noob here so any help is appreciated)

Here is an excerpt of the log activity.

Thanks.

Hey Istolexmas,

Port 6881 was one of the old WoW downloader ports that was used prior to the Battle.net app being implemented I believe. I confirmed that the port should no longer be needed for downloading/patching our games and it is no longer listed on our ports article.

You’re safe to close that port on your router.

Thank you for the assistance Jambrix. I appreciate it. I will make sure that port is not open anymore.
