Yep, and the non-RPers came marching into the server because they heard the RP-PvPers created a robust WPvP environment. Eventually, many of these non-RPers decided to target RP events and chased away the RPers to RP-PvE realms, making what was once a glorious server into a dump.
And you wonder why we have no interest in hosting non-RPers?
The replies to your post are why many of us who would have given it a shot probably wont. I am sure that there are many fine people there, but just like Herod, it is going to be the hyper aggressive dbags that are making many go elsewhere.

If players come with the attitude of not going to RP, then they are not wanted. If they want to test the waters and keep an open mind, then come test the waters.
The RP-PvP guilds generally do not participate with non-RPers, except to unify to purge out a non-RP PvP guild causing community issues. I think we learned the lessons from retail to not allow the server to get tainted again.
Well by threatening ALL you pretty much scared off the folks that would have respected the RP ruleset, left the RP’ers alone and may have tried their hand at RP.
Folks were very nice to me on ED. I knew nothing about RP.
Kept my mouth shut. Someone asked me something in town and I whispered them that I was new and didn’t know how to act.
Today though with this crowd…I fear I’d get reported.
Dude…we have posters saying they will report if you don’t emote properly when in town cause you have to be IC 24/7.

Looks like our RP-PVP server is very well populated, as remember, according to what Blizz said a few days ago, “Medium” population is more than the highest populated server back in 2006.
I honestly hope we keep a steady “Medium” for Grobbulus, as this feels like a solid sweet spot that will endure.
I came from Veco primarily playing in the most prominent RP-PvP guild. Checked out ED in Cata and loved seeing all the RP-PvP campaigns. I also provided substantial contributions in rolling out a major RP-PvP campaign on ED.

Just goes to show you havent been around too long, because that is very normal. There is no balancing mechanism in place nor any encouragement to role on the least populated side.
Even now, we have no idea what the faction split is on any server.
That’s what led me to deleting my grob name in favor of another server, I didn’t want to have to worry about being name reported. Not that I had a really bad name, it was a 2 letter name, but I figured it would only be a matter of time before someone got salty over it.
Somewhere in this thread (or another on Grob) someone got salty over a gnome name “penny” and another poster found a gnome in game npc with the name of “penny”.
So go figure. People are making up their own rules as they go.
