Popular forms of humor/comedy everyone finds funny but you don’t (includes comedians as well)

What are the popular types of humor/comedy that everyone finds funny but you don’t? It can also include a comedian you are not a fan of.

Here’s my example: I am not a fan of the current internet meme jokes. To me they feel forced and are weirdly random that often make nonsensical humor that people find funny but I just don’t get it. Don’t get me started with Dank memes.

Religious humor, as a believer I don’t mind of people poke fun of my faith, but at times I find them annoying, repetitive, and formulaic that they are very unoriginal. I would prefer if the humor was sparingly used and is witty and clever and not blatantly “ReLiGiOn sUcKs!!!”

As for comedians I don’t get George Carlin that much, he simply goes on rants about how America sucks and we are backwards and a another cheap formulaic tactic he does is saying religion sucks, like ohhh how stunning and brave when he is like the 2 millionth person to do that and offers nothing new to his routines. Yet again he has a fan base so to each of their own.

What are your own examples?

Basically anything american humour.

It’s too loud, in your face, forced. It’s not witty, subtle, or funny.

I call it american humour, because it’s largely used by Americans in movies and standup. Jim Carey movies, Adam Sandler, etc.

But Jim Carey is Canadian.

As for popular humor not being funny to me:

I am not a fan of Ricky Gervais, I find him too formulaic and most of the time he just virtue signals that he is morally superior than other people (i.e. people who eat meat, hunt, other animal related stuff).

I don’t get Louis CK, he just makes s*x jokes and snappy one-liners. Most of the time he makes lewd jokes that I just found myself falling asleep to his shenanigans. Lmao I did find it funny that he got in trouble for doing inappropriate things to women in public and that shows what kind of character he truly is.

South Park: I find it stale, repetitive, and just trying to hard to be funny. It goes like this “See guys, we’re adult orientated cuz we swear a lot, do fart jokes, and have s*xual stuff going on”. An adult cartoon trying so hard to be funny by doing jokes that only 14 year old edgelords find funny.

Another form of comedy I don’t find funny at all is Adam Sandler, but I don’t need to explain it that much.

To the rest of the world it’s all the same thing pretty much :joy:

You mean one form of American humor.

Mm, think you’re missing a lot of what’s actually going on with South Park.

My thoughts exactly. South Park does not rely on cussing, fart jokes and sex. When someone says that, it makes me think they don’t actually watch the show. And I seriously doubt a 14-year old would get the point. Actually, what Hongest describes is Family Guy.

Anyways, I don’t enjoy the majority of sitcoms. Married with Children was ok… Modern Family too (maybe it’s just Ed O’Neill I think is funny :woman_shrugging:) but the rest I think is trash. Friends made me want to vomit, Seinfeld was boring. Two and a Half Men was dumb. I never understood why sitcoms were so popular.

Ehhhh no

Not at all

To which part?

Yeah, it DOES.

I used to regularly watch the show as a kid and teen. I know what I am talking about. I stopped finding it funny by the time I turned 21 (23 right now). I don’t know why, but I stopped relating to the humor at my early 20s than I used to as a middle-schooler and high schooler.

I was 13 when I first started watching the show and I remember staying up at midnight watching episodes on SouthParkStudiosdotcom (before Hulu made it a subscription thing) all throughout my high school years. By the time I was a sophmore in college, the magic of the show phased off. I grew out of it.

Called what? Hongest said he/she used to watch the show as a youngster, wouldn’t that count as watching the show and knowing its story and sense of humor?

Nothing. I don’t want to argue about it.

As for humor I don’t get, I am not a fan of gross out humor. I just don’t like it.

I also think that a youtuber named the Angry Video Game Nerd isn’t funny. I used to find it funny when I was 14, as soon as I got into higher levels of High School, I started to find him less and less funny. Don’t get me wrong, I think James Rolfe is funny in his other skits such as reviewing movies and cracking a few jokes every once in a while, but as the AVGN, all he does is cursing and makes potty jokes and that gets old really fast. I can understand though for James’ defense, he is almost 40 and is married with children so he has pretty much changed him humor to be more PG in his more recent videos (of course youtube is making every channel to be PG or G rated), people get old really fast.
