When she pauses and lets her words sink in she looks almost hurt by having to say them. The betrayal her forsaken guard showed as it looked at her and she had to recompose herself.
Sylvanas knows that they need to be stronger than ever. Starting a war to force both sides to grow in strength and gather allies. She knew the whole time that she had to be the bad guy. She had to incite each side to build their strength and gather in other cultures to fight what is to come.
All of this while making deals with death. She forced the horde and the alliance to join forces and now she is going to gather more from the dead of the war she started. Recruit them in life as well as in death.
She was more like Josh at the end of air bud screaming and crying at the same time for buddy the dog to go away and that he couldn’t keep him. Her pain in “betraying” her forsaken… her children… is so quickly overlooked by the blood thirsty sheep.
Sylvanas sees what is truly at stake and if being the bad guy to defeat it is what has to happen then she is willing to do it.
Illidan saw the legion as the last threat and became the wolf to meet it. Likewise and ironically Sargeras and the legion existed to end the threat not even illidan saw. Sylvanas has seen all of this coming for too long. Its becoming a stale story arc to make the bad guy show his colors and the players realize that they have actually caused more harm than good… but so long as sylvanas is able to elude us long enough for the real enemies to come out I think all will be well… not that we wont hunt her like dogs in the ever narrowing linear path that blizz offers us as story and lore in what has abandoned all rpg elements of choice.
Sylvanas, if you are listening, just know that I understand you. I understand why I must hunt you down like a dog. This is why I will give you a good head start.

That is the longest stretch reaching for justification that I’ve read on these forums to date. Holy crows.

Her entire plan was to have The Horde and Alliance kill one another to feed their souls to Death. She was literally using The Horde as a meatshield, she wanted them to fight and die.
According to all the NPCs around us, The Horde were about to lose the war after Dazar’lor, so what did Sylvanas do? She orchestrated a trap with Azshara and N’zoth to decimate The Alliances forces, so the war wouldn’t end.
She didn’t expect Saurfangs Mok’gara, she tells you this, this ended the war sooner than she wanted too.

I think it was more of a massive sigh of relief for her to realize she had no reason to keep pretending for her loyalists. Bannerbae’s side-eye shattered the façade, so she just let loose on how much she despised everyone.

I absolutely loved that after she shouted “The Horde is NOTHING!” She pauses, realizes what she said, in what I can only describe as “… Oh **** I said that out loud…”

The Cycle of Abuse continues
If you say the loyalist thing, she started a war to feed souls to something.
She bad, stop being silly. We were all a means to an end to her.

I’m not sure the Sylvanas Loyalists realize once she’s done with them she’ll feed their Soul to Death just as quickly as she would anyone elses.

It was more shock that Saurfang manipulated her by playing on her spitefulness to make her blurt out her true feelings on the Horde and everyone else. He pushed her “hope” Berserk Button until she threw a temper tantrum after he got a minor scratch in on her face.

Right, Sargeras and the Legion wanted to end all life in the universe to save the universe…for who, exactly?
While ironically doing exactly what the Void Lords wanted, anyway: ending reality and the universe.
Someone has watched the Dark Knight too many times. Slightly edited:
…she’s the hero Azeroth deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So, we’ll hunt her, because she can take it.
The black streaks through Azeroth’s zones, the Banshee cape fluttering behind. A wraith…
All the haters out there. Sylvanas has known what needed to happen since legion. I am excited to see her, the lich king, helya, and bwomsomdi all doing their part to hold off the void. People forget the void is terrified of sylvanas. How do you not see that we are being manipulated by the light to destroy death (ironically) so that we may be consumed by the darkness that the void lords eagerly await unleashing on us. The light and ignorant optimism of anduin is the real threat to azeroth.
Sylvanas did what she had to do. She alone united the factions. Sure we have fought together before but this is different. They are building up a uniting of the living races of azeroth (poor forsaken will be beaten down in the streets by mages in red hats and have their subway stolen from them left and right just because of their undeath.)
Calia will be the bridge to unite and shatter the faction barrier as if diversity were really a strength… so long as everyone in the new diverse union of the factions bows to the light. But what will save it? Those who rule over death. Being sneared at and hunted down at the end of the day those who rule over death will rise up and be the only reason the living will be allowed to continue to live. For the void fears death.
As for the legion… i guess the thought process was something along the lines of “if i cant win then neither can you.”

This level of cringe is what gives people who play video games a bad rep.

/tongue in cheek or in-character prose?
I can’t tell.
Another “Sylvanas is playing 4d chess” thread, though at least this is a different take on it I suppose?

Those words cheered me up and it was pleasant to read to learn that others care about Sylvanas.

If sylvanas is really just a plain jane bad guy and has been for the last 2 expansions then what is the entirety of the hordes legacy? A warchief who abandoned his people, a warchief who went crazy and had to be put down, a warchief who supposedly had this awesome connection to the spirits but just so happened to spout pure lies that lead to the deaths of thousands because he mistook a void lord for a loa, and now the one who was supposed to save us all but ends up going crazy and needing to be put down again? Its time to make the horde great again. I really cant accept that the horde are nothing more than the faceless monsters from warcraft still.
Meanwhile the alliance has a boy sitting on the throne who has done nothing but spoken pure wisdom and truth since his dad got taken out by the legion? I used to be against Greymane but that day Anduin told him to learn his place just made me feel for the dude even more. The humans of stormwind are the true evil in azeroth. Their selfrighteous beliefs being forced upon everyone else. The void lords are the only thing standing between us and the light right now. All things must have balance. The draenor timeline shows us how corrupting the light can be and it seems sylvanas is willing to subject her horde to it now in this time of needed strength.
Here is to hoping that we dont become like the draenor orcs… forced to serve the light and put on trial and executed for any belief system outside of said light. Rawraw go anduin and the priest and paladins. Woohoo this is some great writing. Barely 20 and the only leader in the game who really knows the direction that we need to go. Lets tie up our blindfolds and follow closely so we can say “at least we werent the ones who burnt teldrassil.”
Sylvanas has a deeper connection to the forsaken than any other leader in the game to their subjects. To think that she honestly doesnt care about them is ignorance at its finest. If you dont think there was deep rooted pain as she screamed that they were all nothing you really have no idea. If she didnt leave and end the fight the way she did then her forsaken would have been deleted from existance. Anduin would have stormed org again even if she fought and won fairly. Thats fact. She knew it. This is the only way to keep her people safe and allow her to continue her purpose that voljin saw.
