So, did Sylvanas give the order and engineer the Wrathgate?
“We’re not saying one way or another,” Danuser said. “We want you to see how the story plays out in the chapters to come. Sylvanas has certainly had an interesting history, and looking back at the choices she made is something we want the players to look back at and revisit.”
For the longest time players we have debated on just how much Sylvanas knew had a hand in the Wrathgate. As someone who utterly hates Sylvanas I always expected she had a bigger role to play in that fiasco then she ever lead on.
What better way to make us feel some kind of way about the end of this storyline than to force us to rebel (until players complained about aiding Saurfang), only this time we were wrong to rebel against the person that was trying to save the world from Death/Void/Old Gods/whatever.
You know MoP 2.0, except this time “Garrosh” was right and we were totally fooled guys! That’ll teach us to… what lesson were they trying to teach us about the Horde in Mists that we apparently didn’t get the first time around?
I dont know why anyone would ignore it. Considering the wording, it seems like the events of the Wrathgate is going to affect future lore.
Look, Sylvanas story has ALWAYS been intimately tied to the Wrathgate event. Personally, I want to see the end of this particular mystery once and for all and find out just how much she actually knew about the whole thing!
I welcome this clarification, we need more like it.
I think it would be really cool if she knew about everything, kinda like with this new Baine betraying the Horde and helping the Alliance fiasco, because it was a part of her plan.
Definitely seems like the sort of thing they’ll whip out to make those on the fence side with Saurfang in the end. “Btw I killed your son lol I’m so evil.”
Considered the revelations that she had a role in it. My theory on the sequence of events is that Sylvanas gave the order for the blight to be used against Lich King, with any other causalities being expendable losses to her. However Varimathras chose that exact moment to pull his coup and nearly killed her before she fled to Orgrimmar.
So her blaming of Varimathras and Putress wasn’t part of a gambit but more they gave her the opportunity to point the blame elsewhere.
Well it has been years, but clearly during Wrath to maybe around MoP, the Wrathgate was one of the bigger talks of the town. Anyone who hated Sylvanas(myself included) only had to point to the fact we dont really know how much she knew about that incident to start a storm on the forums.
I mean, at this point in time, people are going to side with Sylvanas to spite Blizzard no matter what. She literally killed loyal followers on the slimmest suspicion of treason, yet it’ll still come as a shock to them if/when she gives them the same courtesy. At which point they’ll decry Blizzard as changing her character to persuade them to go against her, when it was always in her character.
So let me get this straight, we know that Sylvanas was developing the plague. We can assume that she would use it against the Alliance in the future. We shouldn’t be entirely surprised that she is uncaring about Horde getting caught in the crossfire. But somehow, she ordered Putress and a dreadlord to bomb everyone at the Wrathgate, then made those two the fall men? Why?
