Maiev had a full story arc in Legion with Illidan and the Vault of the Wardens, however, so the writing team decided that Tyrande and Malfurion needed a time to shine — as well as the ferocity of the Night Elves.
Maiev had a full story arc in Legion. Top kek.
The Stormwind house of nobles is still present, and the writers say that there’s a strong chance the entire city of Stormwind isn’t united behind Anduin.
Now this is very interesting to hear. Wonder if we’ll get an actual House of Nobles character.
That being said, while the Horde story is currently one of deep division, Danuser notes that the Alliance aren’t at each other’s throats. “The Alliance is like a family. Brothers and sisters can disagree, and things can get heated, but there’s still a deep and abiding love and trust there.”
The Alliance is more like a family than the Horde. I see.
As for Sira and Delaryn being raised and joining the Forsaken, that was a “very deliberate choice,” according to Danuser. The team wanted to show various aspects of the Night Elves, as opposed to presenting them as a monolith. We should expect to see them return, too, he says: “These characters are important to the Night Elf culture.”
Interesting, wish it was less vague. Since the reason it was a deliberate choice isn’t clear if it means their joining the Forsaken was to show they aren’t a monolith or what.
The Zandalar campaign led the Horde to the first raid of Uldir, where Horde heroes slew G’huun.
Yet canonically, the Horde is the one who stopped G’huun in Uldir and saved the world.
I actually had no idea this was the case. Interesting as well.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Pack up and go home Horde. Blizzard took our family photo, ripped it up, and snapped one for the Alliance. Horde Bias.
Steve Danuser joined following WoD I’d assume since we’ve heard nothing about him until Legion…
No wonder he doesn’t seem to know about Vol’jin’s statement about the Horde being Family in MoP!
Vol’jin’s statement was always weird anyway. Nobody likes or trusts the forsaken or goblins, but the Horde’s a family?
This interview, once again, seems to reaffirm everything we have DISLIKED about the current plot and direction.
oof.
Burke also noted that many Night Elf characters were alive during the time of Queen Azshara (who is set to return in Patch 8.2). The Night Elf presence in the story will likely continue throughout that confrontation.
From there, the writers will have to balance a compelling Alliance story with the rising threat of the Old Gods (and, of course, the ongoing Horde story.)
I think these 2 statements confirms Alliance will get canon win in Azshara raid and Night Elf characters will be in spotlight of the patch. Seems about right since Horde seems to be getting Crucible of Storms and they got Uldir already.
The individual races of the Horde need the mutual protection, and cannot afford to go it alone. They benefit from their cooperation.
No one ever said the Alliance also didn’t benefit from the same cooperation, but this is directly stealing Vol’jin’s feelings and pasting it on the Alliance, while they systematically destroy the Horde AGAIN.
The Horde had to come together to remind themselves that they need each other. The Alliance has yet to challenge it’s narrative of absolute full-on friendship, so they don’t need to be reminded.
I don’t want the Night Elves to be a monolith, but to have two leaders so happen to jump at the chance to serve those who killed them without reverence or hesitation is so disgusting.
I am convinced more than ever that Steve Danuser is the worst thing that has ever happened to the story of the Warcraft Universe.
The man already torpedoed another MMORPG into the ground. What was Blizzard thinking by hiring him?
That being said, while the Horde story is currently one of deep division, Danuser notes that the Alliance aren’t at each other’s throats. “The Alliance is like a family. Brothers and sisters can disagree, and things can get heated, but there’s still a deep and abiding love and trust there.”
this statement, among all the others, actually causes my pain in my soul. Did they literally forget MoP? Did they all develop Alzheimer’s?
Also, this quote implies the INVERSE about the horde imo, which makes it even worse.
why.
Vol’jin’s feelings were misplaced, saying them even while harboring distrust for Sylvanas up until his death. He says the Horde’s a family, but they’ve never really acted like it. They’re more like an alliance. snerk
I guess we’re not going to get anything good out of these incompetent hacks.
If I was half as incompetent as these pathetic excuse for writers, I’d be on the street without a job. Yet they keep spouting incomprehensible garbage and get away with it.
Everything they say is doubling down on the disaster.
If your sister is addicted to drugs, you don’t let her near your wallet. If she suddenly is the only person who saves you from a house fire, you realize she’s still your sister and loves you, but you still keep your wallet close.
Family.
I don’t want the Night Elves to be a monolith, but to have two leaders so happen to jump at the chance to serve those who killed them without reverence or hesitation is so disgusting
Well, you see. If they showed how they weren’t a monolith without having them join the Horde, that would ruin how the Alliance is the bestest friends ever.
So of course this is the best solution.
it angers
the alliance is the true family
So the Horde is a dysfunctional family? That’s really the theme you’re gonna try to sell?
I am so angry with this I can’t even really be coherent.
This is going to be a trainwreck
“The Horde is family! We might have disagreements, but we’re ultimately going to stick together–no matter what!” - The entire MOP storyline.
Danauser: lol no that’s the alliance story now
Words fail to show how angry I am.
