Politics in wow

Does anyone else wanna see more wow politics?

Undead in Loarderon, Humans of Stormwind, Dalaran, the Horde and its new council.

In game politics seem completely neglected, they have an entire world that is living and breathing, yet we rarely see anything deviate from the whole “MY SIDE NO LIKE YOUR SIDE!” Save for one or two (that I can recall) instances where humans and orcs/trolls got along but only one or two.

I’d have loved to see the Forsaken hosting a banquet for themselves and their living family members, not knowing it was going to be sabotaged by Sylvanas and the Scarlet crusade, just being there to witness what was meant to be a wholesome event turned into a tragedy.

Or the Orcs helping human farmers on kalimdor grow crops, and teach them neat ‘orcish’ live stock tips.

You never see anything in the open world anymore without being directly in the centee of it, it’s always “CHAMPEYON I NEED YOU TO DO THIS THING FOR ME!”

What are y’alls thoughts?

It might make good side quest content but I’m not sure the writers have it in them. Side quests have generally been fetch/kill quests since forever lol.

yeah that’s probably one of the things blizzard is worst at, fleshing out background lore in-game. usually it’s just put into novels which personally i don’t mind, as i like reading. but it would be nice to see more of it in the game. just some side quests focusing on things like you mentioned, how the night elves are getting on after teldrassil, what’s going to happen in stormwind without anduin/undead without sylvanas, etc

I wanna see more death knights attacking pallys chapels and wrecking them lol and butchering red dragon whelpings. Those class quests were so much fun

Some good ideas.

Really looking forward to how the forsaken evolve. What happens with Calia Menathil. I know a lot of people don’t want to see her leading the forsaken. And I don’t blame them. Lorderon isn’t even exactly hers outside of a mere technicality. And I’m not entirely sure she’s cool with it.

Callia is no banshee queen. The forsaken arent meant to be good guys, they’re anti heroes, same as belfs. Well before blizz messed our lore up :frowning:

I would like to see it, but I dread the outraged forum threads it would spawn.

Problem with it is, that it will become allegorical of real world politics and I don’t know about you but the last thing I want to think about while playing is politics and mud slinging.

I really like Calia as a character. I totally agree with you though. She should come over to help lead the alliance and not the Forsaken at all.

Nope, don’t care.

Turmoil has engulfed the
Galactic Republic. The taxation
of trade routes to outlying star
systems is in dispute.

Hoping to resolve the matter
with a blockade of deadly
battleships, the greedy Trade
Federation has stopped all
shipping to the small planet
of Naboo.

While the Congress of the
Republic endlessly debates
this alarming chain of events,
the Supreme Chancellor has
secretly dispatched two Jedi
Knights, the guardians of
peace and justice in the
galaxy, to settle the conflict…

That movie makes a lot more sense now lol.

We’d definitely need someone in charge of the team for the background lore, but the best thing is if they went this route, they can branch major stories off of it, Scarlet crusade trying to attack the Forskaen, the return of the Defias, in undeath repairing the ruins of loarderon, we could even see a cleansing of the blight around undercity, let the living return their and share the kingdom with the undead,

The Tauren could invite the Night Elves to Mulgore, offering them protection and homes,

They’d have so much side story content that youd be able to do now that the main conflict is over, this is a great time to actually have the Horde be shown as the good guys for once and not just “Grrr im an orc imma beat you for no reason other than im an orc!”

And the Alliance could work towards rebuilding Gilneas, they could make it an entire story line that the players can take part in.

Night elves can attempt to restore Teldrassil,

Theres plenty they can do, outside the main story of the expansion.

Lordaeron belongs to the Alliance.

It belongs to its people which are the forsaken.

Yeah, I used to be active in the Story Forum back in Cata and the people there had so many interesting ideas on how to write faction politics in the game. It’s quite unfortunate that isn’t a bigger component of the game as we can see how well this goes in FF14. It doesn’t even need to be in your face. Extra quest dialogue, NPC chat, or side-interactions are great at showing what’s going on.

I like those suggestions and makes me wish that was the plot of the next expansion rather than the dragon island thing.

I’d like to see a continuation of the Dwarven council of three hammers storyline.

So long as it is politics entirely for the game, from the game, and not from any sort of IRL influences, then I’m all for it. Anything to add more depth to the story.

I love seeing orcs screaming that vulperas shouldn’t be part of the horde.

I go “omg but we are soooo cute! :3!”

They get so mad.
