Anyone else think polished pet charms should be a currency and not an item in your various characters bags?

YES, definitely, and you have a very valid point there!
As they stack to 5,000, shouldn’t be taking up much of anyone’s bag space. Can also routinely put them in your Warband Bank so they get used anytime any of your toons need to buy something with Charms.

That 5K stack for Charms - and the equivalent increase in stack size for stones - was indeed a Godsend.
I think it’s nice, when you are new, to see a tangible reward for a world quest or dungeon, and for that the stackable items are superior.
When you have more of them than you could ever use, that’s when you would kinda like them removed to the Currency tab.
On balance, I think motivating and brightening the experience of newbies is more valuable than saving old curmudgeons a couple of bank slots.

I was so dang glad they let them stack too 5,000 finally try having 62,000+ of them and stacks were only 1,000 what I was having issues with back before the change…now its fine…I put mine on a bank alt to keep

It’d be nice to have them as currency if only to make it easier to transfer them using the new in-game system, but them sitting in the Warbank and stacking up to 5k is pretty dang good compared to how they used to be.
