Policy Update for Input Broadcasting Software

They would each individually have to target them by 5 different people hitting 5 different keystrokes, and it would also take into account 5 different lag and batching differences.

The man has killed multi-boxing. Too bad you didnā€™t do it at the beginning, so us regular people who donā€™t cheat wouldnā€™t have invested hundreds of hours in building a team that never once broke any rule at all including economic impact.

This change exceeds the social contract created when we agreed to all come play.

Shame on them and shame on me for letting myself get so invested.

I suspect that multi boxers are collateral damage here, and the real intent was to handle something a bit more sinister and disruptive.

Pool parties were already against ToS for honor trading. Just nobody reports them because they help the entire server

Multiboxers pay for a group for use at all times for every aspect of the game. Coordinating 5 players to do that would be extremely difficult if not impossible. Groups are simply not that easy to form for every single minute of your play time. Youā€™re lying if you claim thatā€™s not an advantage.

Cross faction collusion used to be as well, and they dont ban for it anymore. Its a changing environment that has to update with the game and players.

Me reporting multiCHEATERS now:

oh yaā€¦ it sucks so bad that 5-8 toons played by one person canā€™t run around arcane explosioning. sarcasm

Not everyone was doing the mage+priest cheese.

Not a fan of this. Multiboxes werenā€™t hurting anyone

Really depends on how blizzard intends to monitor it. Monitoring people running multiple instances of WoW and sending key strokes to all of them, not so hard. What about people who switch to VMā€™s and just have their VM broadcasting to all machines? Not so easy. And basically what physically having multiple machines with KVMā€™s would do.

Would it be different? Probably not, because I am not that good in PvP.

Could it be different? For sure! In those 5 seconds, I could use 3 globals: PW:S, which significantly increases my effective health, desperate prayer, a very strong instant heal, and major health potion. With those three globals I could survive the opener and potentially run to safety or reinforcements. Still beats being instagibbed even if I die in the next 5 seconds.

And the fact that I probably wouldnā€™t survive the opener is completely OK. Itā€™s due to a lack of skill. It motivates me to git gud, and do better next time. Having a chance makes you want to reach it; having no chance makes you want to quit.

So people are just gonna stack switch keyboards or use vmsā€¦
This changes nothing.
they didnā€™t ban multi boxing only the software for mirroring inputs.

The use of input broadcasting software that mirrors keystrokes to multiple WoW game clients will soon be considered an actionable offense.

So hardware isnā€™t affected

You can literally even use the same software in just not mirrior keystokes to multiple clients, 1qaz and modifier keys are not the same input.

So client 1
1 casts frostbolt
client 2
q casts frost bolt
client 34
A+Q casts frost bolt.

But have Q input 1 to client 1, q to client 2 and a+q to client 34.
These are not mirrored.

Blizzard you did absolutely nothing.

Disallowing control-mirrored multiboxing will make it easier to control bots, because without sitting and watching for a long time it can be difficult to reliably differentiate the two. Before this change, swiftly and liberally banning bots risked banning ā€œlegitimateā€ multiboxers, making for a huge strain on the CS team as they restored the false positives.

Now that mirrored controls and botting are both against the ToS, Blizz can ban away without much worry and any multiboxers clamoring for a restore can be taken care of with a canned reply containing a ToS link.

This isnā€™t true because multi boxing isnā€™t against the rulesā€¦ only the mirroring of inputs theyā€™ve made the issue worse

Except this stops it from ever being an issue in TBC or Fresh Classic servers if Blizzard goes down either of those routes.

Itā€™s ridiculously obvious which multiboxers are mirroring controls and which arenā€™t. The ones that arenā€™t donā€™t look even remotely like bots.

There are zero bots in multiboxing. 1 button does 1 thing on 5 different exeā€™s of the game. Botting = 1 button does 1 thing on 1 exe but nobody pushed the button, itā€™s just a program.

If a program is doing it so they happen simultaneously, it will fall under what their post states.

Actually this is not the case.
