Yes, but there is nothing YET that has said they’ve only gained the pointy ears recently.
If something does say that I do think the idea they are half is bunk.
The lore is from when they were a part of the arathi highlands during the troll wars. Arathor was joined by the high elves back then 1000 years ago they sailed across the ocean and founded a “light” kingdom.
Just 15 years ago an expedition from that kingdom was transfered underground by a mysterious force.
If they are hybrid elves than that comes from the 1000 years, they were together before anything.
Basically 1000 years ago a bunch of humans and high elves left and made a kingdom. So, it is theoretical that the kingdom is now almost entirely made up of hybrid elves. 1000 years is a long time lol
You know that video just gave new credence to your “different timeline” idea. Those things look like they should be from Draenor. I spent enough time in that place dealing with mushroom people to remember them.
I’m going with A because the group that formed this Arathi Empire across the sea and sent this group will be meeting probably had/have some High Elves that joined them after the Troll War.
Or the group could have met the datamined Harronir race, that nobody, so far, seems to have encountered in the Alpha, when they landed on the other side of Azeroth to form the new Arathi Empire.
Anyway, we’ll be getting pointy eared humans. And I think it was going to be added as a customization to the playable humans too.
Yeah, it’s really just speculation at this point. The general consensus as far as I knew was they were some type of hybrid human, but after talking to someone I realized that wasn’t necessarily stated, and it could really be anything.
I do like the idea of a kingdom that was so intermixed you see a lot of these “hybrids”. You would think you’d see more hybrids in places like sw but everyone just kinda sequestered off into their own groups.
If i recall correctly the Arathi we meet in TWW have only been in Khaz Algar for about 15 years yes, but i believe the whole Arathi Empire that broke away from the Eastern Kingdoms Arathi has been around for significantly longer and the humans and elves co-mingled enough that there stopped being a difference between them.
So unless they changed that from the bit of Alpha lore ive read, they are simply the result of long term human/elf relations.
I have no idea what the numbers actually were but let’s take an example
Say only 10 high elves were sent to the human kingdom Those ten high elves get with 10 human women. And they produce exactly two kids each(replacement numbers. Now we have 10 high elves and 20 half elves. And every 20 or so years the number of people with elf dna grows. So 20 more years pass and now we have 10 high elves 20 half elves and 40 quarter elves.
The human woman die, and the high elves remarry. Because the high elves have extended lifespans.
Sure, the population would grow alongside them, but within a thousand years it does not seem unreasonable that a good percentage of the empire would be “hybrid”
Or at least that is how I see it. Though you do offer a valid solution to how the humans became the way they did. And if it comes out that they only got their ears after going underground, then it’s a forgone conclusion that it was magic.
Idk but something is off about it like need no small amount of people to found a completely new kingdom that can survive for 1000 years in isolation like an amount in the event of departure no doubt would of been recorded and said kingdom was apparently also founded beyond the seas charted by the current factions due to superstition about those who travel beyond never come back. Also that’s not even mentioning the fact that despite arrriving underground only 15 years ago they have apparently somehow managed to build a very impressive town and construct Airships.
Isn’t it said somewhere that for the past 3000 years the a splinter faction of Arathi humans and a group of high elves lived together on an island somewhere and have been interbreeding the entire time.
I’m not sure from what I gathered than a little over 1000 years ago the humans lived in the Arathi highlands in a kingdom called Arathor. They went to war with the trolls, and in doing so befriended the high elves.
The high elves seeing that the humans were capable of mana decided to teach them magic and sent a small force to teach the humans.
In that time a group from the arathi highlands, and some high elves set sail across the sea. They founded a great light empire together.
But were unable or unwilling to get back to their homeland (we don’t know why)
years later
The emperor started to have visions though of a great war and so sent out expeditions. One of these expeditions was suddenly attacked, and mysteriously transported. Sadly, in the crash all of their mages died, making it impossible for them to teleport out of the underground they found themselves.
For 15 years they lived underground, until just a few years before we arrive the crystal that was their light started to malfunction into void.(This was not always the case, people have timed the crystal starting to go void to sargaras’ sword)
Yeah, that’s the reason. They were an expedition from the old Arathor Empire, who at the time were allied with the high elves. So the expedition included humans and elves. They settled down, formed a new empire, had babies. Not strictly half elf at this point. Just a bit elf.
