So the main objective of this game is to collect things. Either to become wealthy or powerful or just plain greed.
Is anyone else tired of this? How lame is digital materialism?
Plunderstorm kinda broke us out of the treadmill since it is primarily focused on fun. IDK bout you but I’m tired of the MMO formula and would like more small fun games. TWW is my last expack… DF woulda been my last but I already bought TWW before I realized that the majority of the game isn’t fun. I’m not playing their mini games you need a sub for. Just gonna play other games that are actually fun.

Did you miss the week where this forum broke because everyone grinded it out purely for the rewards and made sure to let everyone know how much they hated it?

Sometimes you might play for fun or for a challenge in dungeon/pvp/raid.
Is why people go on higher difficulties than the max reward.
But yeah if you no longer find it fun then break/quit.

Isn’t the main objective of most games to gain power by collecting better gear and/or levels?

The entire point of this game is to kill the big scary monsters. Most games, really.
Or, if you PvP, other players.
Collecting stuff is only the incentive/reward for doing those things.
If you aren’t having fun and only play to collect, then you probably shouldn’t be here. That is, if you aren’t getting any joy from it.
For some folks, collections are what’s fun for them.
I personally think it’s a bit of both, I still enjoy the gameplay as well as the stuff I’ve gotten.
Just like real life, then?
Lol an MMORPG is a microcosm of real-life, it makes sense to me that the goals would be the same.
MMORPG PC in a nutshell when you gloss over all the quest text and skip cutscenes.

Our true reason for existence within Azeroth is to collect 10x Boar Steaks. Repeatedly.

You misread the contract. It’s boar livers and not every boar has one and you need 600. Better get to killing boars!

4 days late for april fools.
Honestly if they take care of the mmo aspects of the game better then the e-sports part of it, we would not be feeling like we are running a hamster wheel, then we would not feel like this.

Nope. Majority of the population that played it played it for the cosmetics. Still collecting things.

And the joke is, all the “material” we are collecting is not material.
If that’s how you play the game that’s how you play it. Not me and I’ll continue to enjoy having fun, enjoy finding value in whatever you venture to.
