For any of you that do not know, Old School Runescape has had Player Owned Housing forever. Its founded on a Skill called construction. Max level construction can net you portals to a lot of key places around the map. Yes. After certain quests and buying or completing different Achievements you can even change the theme id your home.
So ideally if WoW implements housing. I hope like cooking, everyone has to skill up their construction first.

We are barely getting housing, and they KNOW forcing anything more than some tiny questline to unlock it would be suicide. So how bout you go back to sleep and stop with the fearmongering?
Runescape is a great game with one problem that ruins it for me: Your inventory is a stat you have to min-max, and I canât take it. If I canât hoard grey items Iâm out. If I canât pick up things that are worth 1c and have to let them rot on the ground even though I KILLED THAT MONSTER AND EARNED THAT 1C, I am out.
Their housing system is great. Grindy but not moreso than the rest of the game. WoW could do worse.

What makes you say that? People have been begging for housing so long I imagine they would go to any lengths to get it. I expect it to be a profession level grind. Some will complain, but theyâll still do it.
Yeah, but weâre talking about a feature that is not part of a progression path, and will have zero interaction or affect on PvE or PvP. Even the garrison to this day is like 8 quests and free resources. Something to that scale of having to level a profession just to get a house? I donât know if you can actually smell what you have in that shovel, so I would get checked for COVID.
I hadnât thought about the leveling up our construction profession. I should start on that now. Hereâs how I think it should go otherwise.
- Housing shouldnât be gated behind a long quest. Something like the campaign quest we had in TWW would be fine.
- Once the campaign was done, then there could be an exploration requirement. You know, where you have to open up the entire map. Sort of like âshopping aroundâ for a good location.
- Each season would open up a new house and plot of land. Season One would be something reasonable. Like what the Murlocs have in Southshore. Season Two brings another questline, but an upgrade! Say like the Centaur have in DF. Nice and cozy upgrade from the Murloc âhuts on sticksâ.
- You shouldnât be able to âbuyâ a house on the cash shop. Just upgrade it. So you could go right from âhuts on sticksâ to âCountry Manorâ. Iâm not saying it would have to be âCountry Manorâ. It could be âMy very own Limb of the World Treeâ or something.
- Cash shop homes would allow for a greater level and longer lasting rested XP buff that would only take half the time to build up.
- Cash shop homes wouldnât give any kind of profession bonus, but vendors with all crafting materials would be there. But they wouldnât sell âplayer gatheredâ items.
- For that, youâd need to zip over to the AH robot, using your Mini-D.R.I.V.E. golf cart.
- Be careful not to bump into the profession tables and trainers!
- Mail service would of course be available.
- Cooking would be the ONLY profession not supported in homes. If you want food, you will need to sit in your dining area and a vendor will appear with a menu. Eat in or order take out for your raid.
Have you paid any attention at all to what Blizzard has been shoveling at us for years? Did they say there wouldnât be a progression path?
Constructing houses was invented by big lumber.
They did say that there would be NOTHING about housing that even resembled our bases in WoD. They are keeping it completely dethatched from PvE and PvP.
Unless they say the words, âThere will be no grind involved in player housing,â I would expect a grind of some sort. Even if they do say that, I probably wouldnât believe it. If nothing else it will be a grind for gold for people that donât want to buy tokens.
I expect a small questline, and already have money set aside for the cash shop should furnishings turn up there.
My bank in osrs is full of garbage, why are you carrying around max inventory space?
Yes, you mentioned your expectations. Prepare for disappointment.
Iâve got nothing to worry about. Unlike most people on this forum, I am a positive person with an optimistic outlook and do not take this game so seriously that I would degrade myself in any way regarding new stuff, or old. The game it what it is, and I very much enjoy it to this day. Player housing will simply make it that much better. And, not gonna lie, kinda hoping it costs and raid tier, and a battleground
