Plz someone help me understand achievements

So someone please help me understand how wow/blizzard does achievements say i have 5 classes, dk-mage-dh-mage-druid they all have like 2-3k achievements each and my hunter has 11k but once i log on to them they say something different like 13k or so .
If i want to do achievements do i need to focus all on 1 toon, or can i do some on the mage and some on the dh, some on the dk etc . like glory of the (xx) do i need to keep it all mainly on 1? like pathfinder does that need to be on only 1 toon or can i do part 1 on this toon and part 2 on a diffrent class that i made my main … thank you so much for the help here

Some achievements are character bound, I think those have a tan border at the top. Some achievements are account bound which have a blue border at the top. Things can also get more complicated with multi sectional achievements, example pathfinder, which has character bound achievements that count for the overall total meta achievement.

Depends on the achievement. If the achievement asks for multiple achievements (like Glory of X), then you can spread them over multiple characters. If the achievement asks for multiple tasks that are not achievements, then it needs to be on a character by character basis.

A good example of this would be “Glory of the Dragon Soul Raider”. The achievement itself can be acquired across multiple characters since it only checks to see if you have all the achievements from Dragon Soul. Now, on the other hand 2 of those achievements are mutli-week achievements. There is a Yorshaaj achieve for multiple blob combinations or something and then there is the Madness achieve for starting(ending?) on all 4 platforms. In order to get the Madness achieve you have to do each platform so you get it in 4 weeks assuming you actually do a different platform every week. You can’t just do Dragon Soul on 4 different characters and each does a different one. You can however only do that achieve on one character and the other like 7 on another character and get the Glory achieve.

1st let me say thank you for your knowledge, 2nd let me say …so basically just have fun on whatever you have its no big deal im not after the top achievements or mount collector i just want to do all i can to get mounts solo via the glory of …

Now when soloing old content and raids on say mythic for tmogs stuff i.e Nighthold or SoO are we still able to use a blood dk or havoc DH to solo that or did the level squish hurt that.

Take a breath, and hover the achievement in question. If it says “progress on any of your characters will count towards this achievement,” then, well, there you go.

If it doesn’t, then it doesn’t. Simple, eh?

Edit: You can use any character to solo anything; they do’t even need to be a tank - heck, they don’t even need to be plate. If your gear and ilvl are appropriate, the class or gear type doesn’t matter. Most were soloing SoO last xpac with a halfway-decent geared 110. Most are able to solo any WoD raid now with a halfway-decent geared 120. There was a single boss (first boss on Mythic HFC) that was giving people issues - I do not know if that has been hotfixed away or not, but that should be your only stumbling block.

Edit edit: The “Glory of the…” meta achieves almost always have at least one or two achieves in them that aren’t soloable, as far back as Cata stuff from what I remember. Keep this in mind if you are trying to solo Glories.
