One of the things that stands out to me is levels. There are no levels in BRs like Fortnite.
For the most part when you get into a fight in Fortnite both of you usually have max health and shield. The guns and items may be different, but there is no health/shield difference to speak of.
Playing Plunderstorm I have noticed that each time I get into a fight the other person is at least one level above me if not several. So, their health and damage is much greater.
I am not sure if the game mode needs levels.

The level disparity is too extreme.
Everyone starts at 1
And the max is 10
The difference between a level 7 and a level 10 is huge. The level 7 basically has no chance.
I made it all the way to end one time at level 5 and basically got one shot by a level 10.
It honestly seemed that the longer the round went, the less mobs were available to be farmed for levels. If you don’t get levels early and fast then there doesn’t seem to be enough respawns to catch up.
The skills and ability ranks are enough on their own, there doesn’t need to be levels at all for player power or there needs to be some sort of passive xp gain over time which would give viability to hiding strats.

A true BR means; everyone is on an equal playing field. You all land with nothing. Even in end game Fortnite, a player with golden guns can still lose to someone with a grey pistol.
Plunderstorm having levels means; even if you get to the end with good abilities… if someone outlevels you, it could very well be GG.

It’s almost like Plunderstorm isn’t Fortnite, and Fortnite isn’t Plunderstorm.

Have you tried getting more exp?

EXP feels counter productive. If you try to fight someone else you’re basically gimping your win as the xp gain is likely lessened and quite frankly it’s easier to farm elites than people for good abilities. Should implement legendary abilities that drop from the big tornado mobs as well as give a substantial xp gain, right now they drop epic chests but the reality is that an epic chest can be substituted by grinding.

True, they are different games.
So, forget about the comparison. Do you think levels are needed in Plunderstorm.
Levels are one of the things that make the successful more successful.
The more people you kill, the more powerful you become, the easier you can vanquish weaker players.
Obviously, in a perfect world, the powerful would only hunt the weak (which is less fun for the weak), until only the powerful remain.
THe dichotomy isn’t overpowering at low levels. I know, as a level 5 I lost to a level 3.
But I don’t know if level impact abilities at all, or just health. I landed the bird on chest once and immediately got a rank 4 power as a level 1 (not that it helped).
That said, I don’t think the game would be interesting if everyone just had the same fists and went around punching each other. It’s my primary complaint of the game play, running around spamming the ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK.

They threw away classes, racials, inventory, targeting, mounts, talents, chat, guilds, communities, trading, permanence, your characters.
Idk why levels were a bridge too far.

The levels were their MOBA spin on the BR template I think.
Kind of the only marginally original thing they did with it. If you can call it that.

The levels encourage you to actually play. Not to pick up a knockback effect and sit by the border all game.

They don’t encourage you enough, people just complete quest and yeet themselves into the storm.
What % of players in a typical match are actually hanging around to PVP do y’all think?

I think farming mobs is a neat twist in battle royales idk. Forces you to stay engaged the whole match and maximize your time. Also something for players to fight over.

Thanks captain obvious for adding nothing to conversation.

I agree, get rid of leveling and this is a more fun skill reliant game.

I think the levels are actually a good mechanic. Smaller mobs become a resource you can take advantage of. Had a match in duos where my friend and I avoided the fight the last 5 other teams were getting into and instead focused on clearing what was left. By the time the fight came to us, we had managed to get an edge to get us rank 2 as a result.
