Plunderstorm! (pvp for the non-"WOWPVPer")

I’d actually play it if I could play my character and have my actual abilities.

I just dont like the way it plays.

That’s why I said a “Fair” chance. Quitting day one isn’t really fair

That being said, I want to go back to the point that I was making about WOW-PVP versus Plunderstorm. In Arena for example, if you walk in - you’re dead. Not only will the other players have a lot of knowledge to gap you with, they also have a pile of PVP gear. So even with moderate knowledge, you will have no chance of winning.

In Plunderstorm the only thing you bring into the match is Knowledge and Execution (and a little Luck). My main recommendation is to stick with it. The game mode isn’t insanely complex, so after a little while of playing, you’ll start to win a few of those early duels, you’ll start to figure out a build you like, you’ll actually start to out-play people. So yeah, don’t be discouraged if your swabbing the deck for the first few matches! Hang in there!

Its totally fine to not like it. Some will and some won’t and thats ok. Its not everyones cup of tea.

I really enjoyed Plunderstorm last season, like I was chaining matches. I would be like, “Ok this is my last match” and then queue into another match as soon as I was done.

All the vocal dislike and derision it got for being “WoW Fortnite” is weird to me. People saw it as ridiculous because Fortnite is seen as a “kid’s game” now and people thought it was inherently immature.

I used to do AV but that eventually got old, so I stopped.

Absolutely not interested in Battle Royale. None of the rewards thrill me either.

Skipped it last time, will skip again.

Plunderstorm is only fun if you like to kill other players just trying to do the quests and earn plunder. It is absolutely for WoWPVPers.

If you only want the cosmetic, mount, and pet rewards, the PVPers will make your grind a horrid nightmare. They don’t care about the plunder or rewards, they just want blood.

I stuck it out, grinding till renown 40 last year. While I really, really love my spiffy pirate Tmog, I hated every second of earning it. I’m just thankful there is nothing new for rewards this year. Just recolors. Makes it easy to set the FOMO aside and skip this trash.

Sure, it’s pitting players against each other, that’s the game mode. But I disagree that its “only if if you like killing players just trying to do the quest”. That’s like claiming “Pet battles are only fun if you like commiting animal abuse against small creatures” - that’s a large leap.

If you tried it, and didn’t enjoy it - fine. My main plea was for people who are prejuding it based on the constant forum moaning of players like yourself.

To people who skipped it last time because you only read doom and gloom: reconsider. This is especially true if, like me, used to enjoy PVP but feel like WoW-PVP has turned into something that’s too hard to get into.

LOL this is just tripe.

It’s a gankfest where the sheep are the fun/content for others. It’s hugely contingent on how (un)lucky you are with spawning and what powers you get and how closely you follow the updates. Will firespin be OP again? Maybe this time it’ll be fish and whatever. You’ll find out very quickly.

The best advice is to not sleep on the mode and get it done ASAP lest you find yourself playing against less and less sheep like yourself and be nothing but farm content for some sicko getting themselves all aroused by your misery and angst. This event is Blizzard’s gift to those sociopaths and definitely expect them to be crawling out of the woodwork looking to gleefully jeer and mock all the upcoming whinefest posts here about the mode.

To be fair, it is specifically a PvP game mode. It’s like going into a battleground and being mad that other players keep attacking you. If you don’t like PvP, that’s totally fine, just don’t try to pretend this is PvE.

I hate br games so I am sure I will hate this but still going to do enough to get the tender

The projection in your post is intense. You really think this lowly of your fellow players? Must be a ton of fun to be around…

I’m not a PvPer. I will play BGs once in a blue moon, and very rarely arenas when my PvP-loving spouse wants to jump in and do a few matches, but that’s it.

I greatly enjoyed Plunderstorm last time around. It was a nice way to get some quick gameplay in without committing to settling in for an extended period of time. I was not good at winning fights against other players, but I did enjoy seeing how far I could level doing PvE skills and hiding from other players, and that became its own challenge for me. I made it to top 3 a few times by being good at hiding.

Bruh u wut?

It’s a PVP game mode that no one is forcing you play. You should really take a look at how you spend your time. If you’re “farming content” doing something you hate because you feel like you HAVE TO for some sense of completion. I dunno, that doesn’t seem healthy to me.

I just want people to try out the mode, and go into it with an open mind - despite all the forum negativity. There are literally dozens of threads trying to convince people to hate the game mode before trying it. I just wanted to create one that said - try it first plz.

I played it before and didn’t like it, I’m basically guaranteed to not like it again.
I’ll just power through for the cosmetics, same as last time.

No one is forced to do anything in this game but if one wants the rewards one has to do it.

I’m fully aware I don’t have to do it. I guarantee though that if Blizzard were to give an alternate route to collecting the exact same collectibles with a purely PvE path, the vast majority of players will opt for that path.

Or go the other way and take out any form of collectibles. Just let the mode exist and see how many people jump in and do it.

Can I ask you, Do you actually enjoy collecting things in WoW? It’s clear you enjoy having exclusive things, but the hobby of collecting is not just the possession is the process of acquiring the collection.

I personally do not enjoy collecting digital things, I find it both tedious on my time and often predatory from the publisher. But do actually enjoy getting into my guild discord, posting a bunch of pirate picture, summoning the Spotify bot blasting the theme to Pirates of the Caribbean and having a jolly-ol-pirate time with the lads, lasses, and theyfolk of the guild.

Maybe it’s time to have a think about how your spend your recreational hours.
