Plunderstorm or New Raid?

We’re not getting a fourth raid in Dragonflight. Instead, we’re getting Fated and Plunderstorm.

The choice was made and that’s that. But in the future, if resources have to be allocated, I would 100% take a fourth raid over this. Plunderstorm and Fated are not comparable in any way to a new raid - and in fact, it ends what is a good xpac on a bit of a sour note, sadly.

Not going to say I quit or any nonsense like that, but for the future, please don’t do this again.

What resources? All the assets are the ones from the BFA warfront, this is not the same as a full patch is at most the equivalent to a new WQ area.

To assume this took what a whole raid’s worth of time would have is a bit presumptuous… I think you are comparing apples to oranges, time wise. I also want to add that this “its either we get a raid or we get a new minigame type thing” way of thinking should be steered away from.

Why can’t we have both good raids, and also fun game modes like this, without thinking one took away from the other?

My last question would be what else do they need to make a raid for in dragonflgihts story anyway? What’s left to tell?

To be honest, at this point I’m just glad they’re trying out new stuff (in the WoW universe) and I would like them to keep doing so, and hopefully this time, it’s something that appease the majority of the audience and doesn’t cause such a toxic environment.

Did anyone really expect there was gonna be a fourth raid?

I don’t know why people think there was going to be another raid instead of Plunderstorm. Isn’t the popular belief going around that the WoW devs didn’t even develop this themselves? Pretty sure it only took minimal resources away from World of Warcraft, at most, if any.

This thread does work with the presumption we’d get one if they didn’t do this event.

For me I’d say both. I’m really glad they decided on something new.

Thinking back on SL, what did we get? Nothing at a similar time prior to S4.

No, it’s not the same. But they made a choice not to make a fourth raid and zone (to answer your question about the story, it’s simply not complete - Iridikon’s arc was, narratively speaking, the final act, but it has been cut and moved, but that’s neither here nor there). Anyhow, like you say, it’s not the same, but a choice was made to give us these things, focus on a new Xpac, and provide recycled content for us until the new xpac is launched. Plunderstorm is part of that.

I don’t hate that they tried something new, but I wouldn’t want to see it again. I certainly don’t want to see Fated again.

I don’t think we got Plunderstorm instead of a new raid. We got Plunderstorm instead of nothing

Last expac we also got fated raids. Honestly I think they released fated to give some players a tier break because of burnout for 4 tiers, but if you still want to do soem fun raiding they give you the previous 3 with buffed ilvl. Fated season is no way connected to awesome plunderstorm

People seemed to expect a lot from a .6 patch. :woman_shrugging:

Why do you say that? They have openly admitted we’ve lost whole raid tiers because of development on other things, very specifically Garrisons. There is even a meme in the Garrison a grave labelled Ray D. Tear (raid tier)

So what about this exact situation presumes they didn’t also do the same thing here?

We lost a whole raid tier not because of garrisons. Last expansion we had a fated season as well.

lol as if these were the two options

Since we had fated last expansion, I would expect to see it for the next 3 expacs.

What does fated raids have to do with this? Im sure we’ve missed out on more than just a couple raids because of various reasons, I am giving a specific example where another side development item took away time from potentially going into a raid tier, where it was admitted to be the case.

Im sure there are tons of things in the game we never got because they just didn’t have the time.

Just to reiterate and try and be as clear as possible. I am certain we’ve lost raid tiers for all kinds of reasons, but we have also 100% guaranteed confirmed lost them because of side development like garrisons (or in this case, Plunderstorm)

I agree with not wanting to see fated raids. I think the root cause issue here though is bad story planning (We must assume this is why Chris basically took over) so I think if the story wasn’t so flimsy, and they knew what they were going to do ahead of time we would have a 4th raid regardless if plunder came out or not. Just my idea here.

I don’t even care for Plunderstorm but I’d take that over a raid since I don’t bother doing boring WoW PvE.

incorrect. We did not lose a raid tier because of plunderstorm. Season 4 is out, and it was going to be fated again because of the success( people raiding) during fated season last expac.

Because of the interviews we have seen, and how the team has talked about work flow and how bad story telling was in these last few expansions, It’s easy to believe that this didn’t take much away from the main team. Why do you think there’s been a huge shake up in the story teams, and why do you think they are planning the next 3 xapcks? Because they want a story that isn’t being cut or changed every 5 seconds like in DF, and shadow lands and i could assume every other expansion we have gotten.

Also, Garrisons are a part of main wow, so that means a lot more had to go into that system then say a small game mode did. Garrisons were a Expansion wide feature deep in the makeup of the story and zones, so of course it took more effort for that then something like this.
