Seems like balance is a huge issue, some powers way overpowered compared to others, rng based on if you even get any. some people seem to have already figured out tricks to getting purples within seconds of match starting.
Clearly not everyone is on equal footing and the grind to get renown looks to be a slog of hell.

What makes you think that? I’ve been starting in the same area for a few matches and got different things every time. Sometimes a purple sometimes not.
I tried 2 rounds and didn’t like it. It’s just not for me. I don’t play PVP for a reason.
agreed pvp brings out the worst in people, even in discussions.
this mode is so BS to lock everything behind unbalanced pvp grind. maybe if they dropped the renown requirments and matches needed to play but this is pure garbage

Blizzard wants to make a new game so bad you can see it. They know however they couldn’t develop themselves out of a wet napkin.

I don’t PVP and I likely won’t do the event. So… who cares? The game has had cool PVP rewards since launch that I don’t get because I don’t PVP. Boohoo. Its fine they made a PvP event.

Most casual players, which is a primary demographic, don’t even use the forums.
Usually just the vocal negative minority; be it class balance, wanting old unobtainable items, wanting pvp rewards obtainable from PvE, wanting easier gear progression so they can raid log. The list goes on. Like do y’all even like games? 
It’s not like blizzard is asking the “casual” players what they think. That’s what they hear on twitter, reddit or on this forum. Remember that. You could call us the minority but if we dislike something it will be heard and the same if we like something. It’s that simple.
