here’s my thing. i just want to see my toon as how i envision them. if nothing else let us transmog what we see. in other words, only i see my xmog. with the inventory economy the way it is in classic, i just don’t want to have to play the old game of ‘what piece of vanity gear do i have to throw away for something more important’
i know it’s a contentious point but maybe i don’t care for the look of ‘epic’ gear. maybe i’d rather my toon look average. or a beat down version of average. or maybe average with one crazy item that’s bestowed upon them the ability to do whatever it is they do.
i get that this is a ‘classic’ experience and should ultimately be that…that said, vanity doesn’t affect game mechanics. maybe the world economy? but that happened back in the day too. unique items are always in demand.
i just hope this idea gets a consideration.
again there’s got to be a way to make it so that only the user sees their xmog right? so what’s the harm?

Go away. Far away. The Consortium is not a thing in Classic. The Dark Portal isn’t open.

Except chronoboon, dual spec, instant mail, unlimited buff/debuff, dungeon finder tool, an accelerated release schedule, being on the 1.12 patch at release, a modern client, layering, trading restrictions on new/returning accounts, and every single secret and every single detail about the game is known by the community.
We’re a long way away from #nochangesbtw.
You could allow transmog and have an option in settings to disable it for other players in hostile areas only or everywhere. I don’t believe that system would affect anyone’s experience negatively.

I think you underestimate the average player’s ability to find the smallest detail to complain about ad nauseum.
We are definitely a long way from #NoChanges, indead.

And yet I keep watching hardcore players on youtube click evasion or click shield block then keep their back turned towards the mobs for the full duration as they die.
Also I go into AV as a boomkin and the amount of horde mages that try to polymorph me in moonkin form is adorable.
Oh and warrior / rogues trying to kick my grenade cast is great too.
I see where you’re going with this, but the problem is that items that are otherwise affordable would inflate in price because people wanted them for transmog.
Also you’d have people rolling on gear they don’t actually need just for transmog.
These problems already exist in retail so don’t tell me that’s not an issue.
It has a distortionary effect on the value of gear that would negatively impact players who don’t transmog.
i just never cared much for the look of ‘end game’ gear. maybe the system could be that ‘unique’ items are excluded or above a certain ilvl. maybe it doesn’t clear bag space and you have to have it in the bank. maybe any rolled gear is excluded from xmog?
i definitely think there’s a path forward that could make everyone happy but i unfortunately don’t see blizzard ever making it a thing.
Part of the classic experience is the Skiddle armor combinations. We learned to hold onto gear we liked the look of, particularly on RP servers when we wanted our characters to look their best so to speak and swapped out at appropriate times. Heck I had a character make it into a gaming magazine back in the day (honestly I don’t remember the name of the magazine at this point in life) that ran a “Skiddle of the month” article. People submitted action screenshots of their PCs in the colorful mismatched gear they were forced to wear at their various levels. Vanilla was bad…but the starting few levels in BC honestly was even worse. I had nearly every color of the rainbow represented head to toe on my rogue and was selected to be featured because it was that bad.

all the more reason to learn from the mistakes of the past.
I think the only way it could work without impacting the game economy or loot behavior is if the only items you could transmog were purchased from a vendor using a unique currency. You wouldn’t be transmogging any of the gear you obtain normally through gameplay.
So Blizzard would not only have to implement the transmog system, but also an entirely separate currency and vendors with replica gear to use for transmog.
All that on top if the ability for players to opt-out from seeing other people’s transmogs.
This is what us against dual spec/changes were trying to warn you about…

atleast Blizz should give it to us for TBC resi gears
i vote for it !
I was very #NoChanges originally but at this point with the amount of stuff they’ve added in and retooled, something fun like transmog is an addition I can get behind.
Over the years I’ve come to believe that people have very specific cherries to pick when it comes to nochanges. I suppose this one is mine. I’d love to have transmog in Classic!

We’re a joke on our own game, friend.
I can’t stand transmog. If it comes out I’m hiding all gear and running around naked forever.
