Pls help with my 30+ raid keybinds

Shadow Priest
Just wanting some help with how you guys all manage having to use 30+ keybinds in your rotation. And if not the rotation having to manage using over 30 abilities every raid encounter. please help!

I’m a keyboard mainly player, and what I have done is bind around 60+ keys to my number pad using CTRL, Shift, Alt, and variations of that.

I use keys like Q/E/F/G/V for abilities I don’t use often like fade, shield, shadowfiend, fleshcraft plus modifiers on those so I can double up with shift and ctrl.

1-4 is those keys, 5-8 are mouse thumb buttons with shift modifier. Ctrl thumb buttons are Shadowmend and Mind Sear.

if you’re an asdf player, the “easy”-to-press keys that I use are:

q, e, r, f, 3, Mouse3, Mouse4, Mouse5
= 8

Shift + all of the above
= 8

Control + all of the above except q and 3 (i use ctrl+q too, but not as easy)
= 6

Alt + M3/4/5; q, e
= 5

Alt+shift + M3/4/5; q, e
= 5

space, control+space (I use shift-space to jump)
= 2

So that’s 36 that I consider “easy”. Speaking of easy, whatever ability I use most is always on space.

If you don’t have mouse 4/5, that removes 10 of them, in which case you can be more creative (add c and z keys, then modify/chord them, 4 isn’t bad either). Also, on a rogue I’d use stance macros - not sure if that or similar would be relevant to you.

Some people also like to use num pad keys like - and “Enter” if they’re willing to take their hand off their mouse for a split second to slam them. Similarly, tilde ( ~ ) isn’t horrible, but it’s not as easy to chord with shift/control/alt/whatever.

So I noticed you and Velik above have keybinded Q and E as different things. So you guys don’t use Q and E to move sideways? I move using A,S,D,W and to the sides with Q & E. I don’t have a mouse with buttons apart from the normal ones, I have tried it but playing with a mouse isn’t for me.

Yeah I use -, enter and numbers in numberpad, but I hardly use my mouse. I use tab for bosses, so I play different than others.

Just dont use keybinds. Ull be fineeeee

I use AWD to move when not using my mouse. A is my left strafe, W is forward, and D is my right strafe. I have abilities bound to QSE as well as other keys around those. I havent really found a reason to need to back pedal. Thats mostly a thing for tanks.

I also use a lot of help harm macros

Yeah, if you’re keyboard only, you need the q and e for strafe left/right or turn left/right, correct.

If I were a better player, I probably would have s not bound to backpedal like I do, and the help/harm macros Lyriahn also mentions are additionally a decent way to save keys-needed.

asd for movement, mouseover macros on F1-F4 for vt/swp/dp/swd (swp macro doubles as SN), 1-5 and Q-T for main abilities with shift modifier as needed.

i know i don’t need S bound to move backward but at this point it’s got a decade of muscle memory behind it and i don’t trust myself to re-bind it!

I dont backpedal often at all, but if I remove that binding it will mess me up hardcore. Even if its just for subtle nudges or picking up my macabre dancers, changing what my brain knows as backwards after so many years of gaming is not an option.

As to using Q/E, i am heavy mouse user so having extra keys for turning is not needed at all. Q is my sustain key for all classes and E my intertupt.

same, for me Q is fiend/bender and E is fade.

in general i try to be consistent on other classes. Q is roll on my monk, fel rush on my DH, etc.

1-4, qerfxcv. 3 mouse buttons, scroll up and down.

Shift mods for all of the above. That’s 32.

Most people just unbind turn completely because it’s useless, then either rebind a and d to strafe (Freeing up q and e) or just bind them as spells. You turn with your mouse.
