How would the Kyrians know what an artifact of the Maw - or anything from the Maw - looks like?
Here’s part of the transcript, immediately after Devos witnesses Uther’s death to Frostmourne:
03:49 The runes on his blade were unmistakable!
03:53 This dark agent runs free on a mortal world
03:56 with the power of the Maw itself in hand!
04:00 Our realm is imperiled!
04:03 Impossible!
04:05 The Maw is inescapable.
If nothing has ever escaped the Maw, how would the Kyrians recognize Frostmourne, or the runes on Frostmourne, as being from the Maw?
She says earlier in the cinematic that the maw was sealed at some point. They could easily have knowledge of the maw, and the power held within, dating back to the time before it was sealed.
The Kyrians know what the maw is and whose there, why they’re there, and why they’re supposedly never leaving. Obviously they know what artifacts from the maw are.
Their disbelief at things being inescapable is that they believe nothing can leave those prisons. Kyrians literally take people to the maw as part of their duty.
Except Frostmourne was manufactured inside the Maw. It wasn’t brought in from outside, it was made there.
They don’t actually go into the Maw itself, they just fly over it and drop people inside from a safe distance. It is said that anyone foolish enough to venture there is never heard from again. From the outside, all you can see is a bunch of black and orange swirly stuff.
I suspect it’s the same way, when you talk to Jaina and Thalyssra after Sylvanas went Dragonslave on Saurfang, they mention the strength of Sylvanas power, but never felt a source like it.
I suspect any Kyrian who has flown close to the Maw (as its shown they can do) would know what that power felt like… and could recognize it if it was ever outside of the Maw.
Many ages ago the Jailer wasn’t locked in the maw, it’s in the story itself, he became discontent with his role and wanted to overthrow things (the pantheon of death supposedly), so they locked him in the maw, his jail.
It stands to reason the oldest of the kyrian may have known a world were the maw wasn’t sealed so tightly.
Aren’t runes just another type of character/letter (like A, B, C) or heiroglyphs?
It could literally just be them reading the words/symbols in a language common to all in the shadowlands and having them say “Made in the Maw est. 2003”
