Plot Availability

I am apparently late to the party, just now am looking into housing (just bought Midnight) but of the neighborhoods available via house finder none of the plots I have an interest in are available. What is the plan/process for new neighborhoods being created? Do I even need a house or is it just it’s own feature and not needed for Midnight story/questing?

You can keep refreshing to find your ideal plot, or can just plunk down anywhere so you can get started on neighborhood endeavors, which are resetting with Midnight launch in just a few hours.

I recommend just plunking down anywhere for now to get going on housing level xp,and familiarize yourself with the housing controls and system in general.

Have fun! :house_with_garden:

Edit: you can set down a horde and ally house, so just pick a plot now for both in case you feel like switching endeavors or working on one over the other.

Sounds good, thank you very much for the advice and info!

I second that advice to plop a house down anywhere for now.

Your best bet is to look for a guild that might have the plot you want open.

Guild neighborhoods generate more “Subdivisions” when the first one fills up to 80%. Which means there’s a whole other instance that is empty plots.

Finding a good plot in a public neighborhood is hard mode.

I dunno… it seems similarly difficult to find a “good” guild that has just recently spun up a new (and thus near-empty) instance, or at least has your desired plot open. With the Public Hoods, you can just keep spamming refresh with the House Finder until you find your desired plot available (no research on what guild requires besides “free housing plot,” as a lot of guilds are picky about finding a good fit for their clique, while spamming refresh is no criteria–just tedium).

My Alliance guild has plenty of open plots, but the OP would likely not want to be there even if their specific plot is available. The guild is mostly focused on M+ and Heroic raid and the hood is mostly empty because very few care about Housing, so getting Endeavors completed is unlikely (and that’s your main source for leveling up a house). I subsequently moved my Alliance guild house to a Public Hood because of the lack of interest / participation with the Guild Hood.

As a counter-point to the statement above, I’ve seen a few posting here about poor participation in Public Hoods, but I expect the participation scaling to enable any hood that puts in some amount of effort to complete the Endeavor within 4 weeks (see Wowhead article on Endeavor buffs). So IF you find a Guild that’s a good fit for you (personality & objectives align) and they have a focus on Housing, then perhaps a guild is easy-mode and spamming for a public hood is hard-mode.

Alliance guild Court of Lions has a mostly empty Subdivision 2.

Horde guild Dragon Vaults has a bunch of open home plots in general.

Both guild neighborhoods got the endeavors done very fast in early access. Many housing enthusiasts in them.

I am sure there are many guilds like these. There are just where I have my homes so figured I’d share for anyone having trouble finding active neighborhoods with available plots.

Moon Guard Alliance and Wyrmrest Accord Horde are the RP heavy servers. That’s where you find housing enthusiasts. You can make an alt and read trade chat. Tons of neighborhood recruitment announcements.

good luck finding an alliance plot anywhere. I’ve been searching for weeks to find one. Plenty of public horde housing available, no alliance, unless my refresh button is broken.
