I am just NOT enjoying leveling anymore it feels like a continuous grind. I want to be able to cough on lower NPC’s while I fly around gathering low level herbs. This snowflake approach to “lets all hold hands and be the same” to leveling is HORRIBLE! Surely there can be something implemented for those of us who want to just turn it off??? I don’t want to be level 58 and able to start Northrend content… I want to earn the right way and then be able to go back and ROFLSTOMP all the NPCs that made my journey miserable. STOP BLOCKING US BLIZZARD!!! SAY NO TO LEVEL SCALING!!
I don’t like scaling either, but with how fast leveling is with or without heirlooms, and especially how fast it will be in Shadowlands, this isn’t going to happen. Just finish leveling your last few toons during the XP event and you’ll never have to do it again.
I really do get that and for the last few levels it is cool… but I really just want to enjoy leveling. For me, it is not about rushing to lvl 120.
I’m confused—aren’t you the one asking for the snowflake approach?
The rest of your post doesn’t really make any sense—mob scaling has nothing to do with going to northrend at 58, and mob scaling already has caps so you can “cough on lower NPCs.”
What even is this?
I want to farm Peacebloom on my lvl 62 priest and not get stunned and cast blocked by what should be a lvl 18 spider. I want the option to be able to turn off level scaling.
We all got tales of woe.
If you want to farm low-level nodes without fighting the creatures placed around those nodes (though I’m not sure why anyone would want to do that), do it on your 120 priest.
Honestly, level scaling and ilvl scaling has really ruined a lot of sense in terms of character progression. The entire aim is to try and get stronger, not only with the level, but with the gear that you also get as an upgrade.
But there is no sense of an upgrade or progression when everything in the world is getting stronger with you.
The amount that people like you care about going backwards for no reason but smashing mobs that pose 0 threat and offer 0 gain is kind of insane.
And you CAN still do that. You just need to level into the next bracket.
After 60 you can go back to Classic areas and do all the stomping.
Yes very very true. I miss when the current quest mobs I am fighting went from being orange to yellow to green making it a little easier to kill. It kinda gave some satisfaction and sense of achievement and I looked forward to killing orange rated mobs again. But I feel like now I am not allowed to feel that way as I am supposed to just be grateful that all NPCs give higher reward in XP value when killed and I am called “insane” for wanting to kill stuff that doesn’t pose much of a threat. I mean… this is how the game was for 10 years! haha… one of my fondest memories was when I was lvl 11 on my first toon and accidentally going to an area where the mobs were lvl 40 and had the Skull icons and I was obliterated. It just changed a lot of things I guess. (yes people I know you can be lvl 11 and 120 will 1 shot you).
I love the level scaling and hope they don’t change it. I know we are getting squished next expansion, but as far as we know, the zones all scale based on your level. If you are 120 right now, which gets dropped to 50 in shadowlands, all of the content right now, from every single zone in the game, will be level 50. I’m cool with that and even at level 60, in level 50 zones, you probably won’t be able to cough on anything and kill them. Might only take a couple swings, but it’s better than an autoattack with a dagger one shotting them.
See, to me that sounds incredibly boring. I guess I am just different.
That is what leveling is. Grinding exp.
Have you tried “gitting gud”? I hear that helps out a lot in the long run.
I suppose everyone has their opinions on it. To me, there is zero fun in glancing at some low level mob with 300hp and seeing it die. That, to me, is the definition of boring.
It sounds like you’re the one asking for the snowflake approach. ‘Please let me 1 hit the mobs’.
Levels only scale so much.
There is a point in terms of character progression - but you see that anyway between level brackets I.E 1-60, 60-80 etc. Even moreso at endgame.
Just farm with a 120 toon
Or lvl up your 62 toon to the next bracket so the mobs are non consequencal
People read the word “snowflake” and get soooo triggered. Guess that part of the post got through to some at least.
There are plenty people who also don’t like scaling. It is a personal preference. Blizz has done many things to change the way the game can be played, it is not what I consider over reaching at all to look into a way to turn off level scaling for those of us who want the option.
You’ll be able to turn off Chromie time I think. Not sure how that will affect the drops and rewards of things though. I’m guessing that the zones scaling to 50 will have drops that scale to 50. If you go back to the low level versions of it, you’ll be able to farm old mats like linen cloth and such.
That sounds really good, I hope we can
