Western Watch in Drustvar is beautiful. I believe it’s the only lighthouse in the game that is built to realistic scale (BUT YOU CAN’T EVEN GO INSIDE IT).
The rest of them, however, all look the same, from the iconic Westfall Lighthouse to the one at Venture Keep on the distant shores of Northrend. They are all the diameter of a tube sock in relation to your character. Fly next to them and see for yourself. Other than two exceptions, at Stormwind Harbor and Gilneas, all the lighthouse models are virtually identical.
I simply cannot overstate how disappointed I am in the lack of originality, character depth, and scale of Azeroth’s lighthouses. We deserve much better!
Why can’t we walk inside them? Climb to the top of the tower, relax and watch the sea? Read some old books? There is so much missing here that could significantly add to the ambience and atmosphere of the world. I’d love to see these landmarks spruced up. The interior design of the homes and shantys in Boralus would be a great starting point for inspiration.
