Since the layer flattening of Grobbulus, it appears that mob visibility distance has been severely throttled. Please return it to the prior setting.
Do you mean their nameplates? That was nerfed to 20 yards a month or so ago.
I am talking about the view distance of the actual mobs
I haven’t noticed any difference since my realm lost layers.
Have you made sure that your settings didn’t get accidentally changed in a patch or something?
Is there even a setting for mob view distance? I haven’t touched settings for weeks
Yeah, it’s in the graphics settings somewhere. There’s one for ground clutter view distance and one for “important stuff” view distance, which includes players and mobs.
Maybe it is lag. As I ride across badlands some are appearing like 15 yards before I get to them, while others might be like 40 yards. Something wonky is going on.
Most likely do it, to relieve the servers, since they can barely afford to keep them up. Pserver would do it when the server was having trouble early in the launch period, and was always crashing.
/console cameraDistanceMaxZoomFactor 2.6
Problem solved.
I have noticed this myself, mob visibility is lower than normal on Grobbulus right now.
