I took the day off of work thinking I could go right through the portal after maintenance ended. Everyone told me I was a dummy and that everyone but me knew it opens at 3pm. Any chance you can think of a way to highlight important information like this for us dummies? Maybe a message like you do for maintenance but in red and all caps and 200 point font that flashes? What would also work is a pop-up box that I have to put a check in to close, then another one right after that states this important information again with even more brevity and more flashing and bigger font?
What I am asking is to make important information dummy proof.
You mean like putting a big countdown timer on the TBCC home page? Or a page specifically devoted to showing you exactly when the portal opens for your time zone? Oh wait, they did this weeks ago.
You know no one uses websites anymore for updates. Heck we barely use forums anymore for updates. Most stuff pops up in launchers or twitter.
Making information easier to find never hurt anything. I for one found the effort to find this information out was too much and understand most people will not know the time. When you’ve worked in areas that require giving support/information out. You learn that even if the important part is in the subject people will still miss it.
Unless you actively went looking for the launch time it’s not on the launcher. The only notice on the launcher was about maintenance ending at 8am PDT. Of course most people would probably have looked it up but many didn’t.
I mean you can’t fix stupid. Smooth Brains will have trouble no matter how much you try to spoon feed them as the information was clearly posted on the website.
I do agree that info like “Launch time at 3pm/6pm est time on June 1st!” should be prominent on the launcher. Because it creates more hype, less questions, and its just easy. Directing people to the tbc website is going to have a lot of people who arent actually going to go. Its just really a hype page. I think I’ve been there 3 times since the announcement. From past launches as an example, launch time is 3pm/6pm and just plan around that. The amount of tbc toxic posts spread around the forums and lfg chat has me highly amazed!
I don’t get what part of “Launches at X time” is hard to understand, it was announced A blizzcon, it was announced on WoWhead, it was on multiple social media platforms.
I watched Blizzcon and they didn’t announce a release date at that time.
Ive been aware of the release date since they gave it and spread it to friends.
There have also been people admitting to just coming back to classic, or not even being aware of tbc classic until recently. It doesnt take much to pass on “releases on this date, this time, check wowhead or the website for more info.” and then move on.
I got ticketed for driving 25 mph over the speed limit. But I wasn’t paying attention to the signs stating what the speed limit was, so cut me some slack.
