I started in 05 so getting to AV took awhile. I want to know all of your thoughts bad and good. Thax in advance.
No reinforcements is a terrific thing.
A.V 1.12 is basically the retail version without the reinforcement. The zerg rush are extremely common and easy to do. Nothing much more than two raids passing by each other to rush to the opposite side 90% of the time.
A.V 1.5 has a feeling of an actual battlefield where everyone can contribute to the war effort the way he/she feels. Sneak past the numerous guards to tag towers and cemeteries, join the heat of the battle, get the scraps or bones from the dead to summon reinforcements, farm the mines or even fish.
It lasts hours, is extremely fun and has an amazing and epic feeling about it.
Zerg rush are possible in 1.5-1.8 but are considerably more difficult considering there are way more NPCs, they have between 15-30% more HP and deal 10-30% more damage.
Not to forget the mines forcing u to take paths with elites and mobs walking around.
1.12 AV is good because you can grind to exalted reputation as fast as possible and then talk about it on the forums and bait easily triggered folks into getting really upset and telling you âthis is how we got retail. Your instant gratification attitude means Classic is not the game for you.â
You can keep this up for months and theyâll never realize youâre just triggering them on purpose.
10/10 great fun from this AV
Iâm all for oldschool stuff but wouldnât competent PvP teams find a way to win fast in av 1.5 anyway
I agree that they would but I think the argument being offered in favor of the earlier version is why make it easier?
Things that i donât like in the 1.12 because reasons above.
Things that i donât like in the 1.5 is donât have pvp, you only poke the enemy faction and run close to NPCs guards, waith the tankers die for them and start chasing the enemies until they do the same thing with you, and you do the same thing with they, and same, and sameâŠ
But AV is my favorite BG.
You could log out of 1.5 AV if your side is getting farmed. You could attempt to return at a later time to finish. People labeled âcompletionistâ will fret about having to leave before the end sometimes. The intent of 1.12 AV, officially, was to make the scenario completable over a lunch break; an anti-vanilla idea pulled from the nether that presaged the overarching principle of âdumbing it downâ that led to people hating what WoW became.
Many threads have been made about this. If you are truly interested, then spend a day discovering these threads stuffed away amongst the old and to-be-forgotten threads. You might not get enough replies to your thread, because so much has already been said. No one should have to keep repeating themself for those who want information catered to them. The information already exists. Find it. Yours is probably the last AV thread that I will bother to post to, but I have written much about it. Others more so; occasionally impassioned.
AV 1.5 is the best iteration, and a masterpiece in PvEPvP. No other BG, in any game, comes close. My favorite iteration by far,
That being said, itâs not the best âmainstream versionâ; itâs easier for the majority on 1.12.
1.12 is still miles ahead of Retail, and even the TBC version.
Donât let people fool you⊠it doesnt have to a Zerg if you donât want it to. A group of 5 or more can prolong the game if they choose. In retail? Impossible.
âPlease tell me what to think.â
By someone posting on their alt.
Wew ladâŠ
I recently recovered my account and my original main is gone. I have been playing low levels to see what has changed. I have not played since cata on this account. I have spot played MOP and Legion and disliked both. I am gonna play classic. Not that I needed to explain myself to you but be aware that there are returning players that have questionsâŠ
Types up a convoluted story
Just to say
Yeah, you are just trolling from the safety of an alt.
Moving on now.
So AV pre 1.11 actually was more about fighting NPCâs, post that it was about PvP, then in BC reinforcements were added which just messed up everything.
So AV 1.12 is kind of in the perfect spot of the BG emphasizing PvP but not forcing you to Zerg.
No time limit either.
I donât remember patches but I remember AV changing from forever battles to zerg fests. Thanks for the info. Just wanted you to help me remember.
Reinforcements changed AV into a zerg fest, not 1.12, keep that in mind.
So 1.12 av was good for people who only wanted reputation for vendor goods.
While it was bad because it encouraged people to ignore people, and a lot of the features of AV eventually became pointless.
It turned AV into a zerge fest especially for the alliance side, while horde usually were forced into turtling to even have a chance of winning.
AV became more Anti pvpve.
Summoning wolf riders, wyvern riders, and giant element became harder and bg usually ended by the time you got one out.
In bc horde starting zerg rushing more because of some sort of addon that made it easier for them to grind honor the fastest way possible or something like that, as a result premades were nerfed, to the point where you could not do a full premade bg in later content.
In the end, PLAYERS turned AV into a zerg fest. You can have several hours long games in 1.12 if you want. All you have to do is turtle.
People found the most efficient way to get AV rep and started doing it all the time.
People trying to convince you 1.5 will save us from this are way over exaggerating.
