Please tell me this is wrong

Please tell me that you’re NOT going to REQUIRE an SSD to run Shadowlands. I’m sorry, but if that’s true it’s possibly the dumbest system requirement and will alienate anyone who doesn’t have one. I have one but I have friends who don’t and won’t be able to play because of something that in the long term is completely unnecessary.

Just a system suggestion.

I think they are listing it as a requirement, but I don’t see why the game wouldn’t run without it. Your load screens will probably be pretty bad though. I know legion dalaran Takes 10 years if your on HDD.

If you’re content with the game loading as glacial speeds, it won’t be “required” per se. The game will still play.

The intern probably don’t know the difference between “Minimum” and “Recommended”.

  1. Requirements are not mandatory. Calm down.
  2. You may eventually experience loading issues as time progresses if you so choose to remain unchanged. The game won’t deny you entry.
  3. It is 2020. Stop trying to make a big deal out of SSD’s. They’ve been around for 10 years. They have become extremely affordable on many sizes.
  4. People need to stop being cheap skates with their computers and get with the times. I love how everyone wants blizzard to make a better game, but somehow demand they can still run it on their Win95’s Celeron processors… if the people being “alienated” are those that can’t be bothered to update their rig once every decade… good riddance.

Well if you have access to PTR and still on an HDD, give it a shot to see if you really require it or not.

You do realize Shadowlands is “alienating” ( i use this term loosey) people who has something older then a Windows 7 64 bit version, and those with lower then minimum the CPU and GPU, right? And besides, a 1TB SSD costs $150 at max, you can find one on a deal. You can even get a quarter of that for the quarter of the price if you really want. Plus, you don’t have to reinstall your OS on there, just buy a new one, plug it in and your good to go.

Here’s the one i use. Fantastic for me so far.

You’ll still be able to play don’t worry. You might just have a little longer load time

It’s one of the reasons I’m looking to upgrade to SSD. I can’t stand those screen load times anymore.

Like I said. I have 2 in my pc. I have friends who don’t and it just seems like an unnecessary requirement. As long as HDDS are still being made, they’re still useful. Just my 2 cents.

I wish they cost 150 here. Lol.

Damn it smell like broke in here.

Well, it’s not particularly hard to plug in an SSD in a computer. I would recommend your friends getting an internal one, because it’s more cheaper, though they might have to open their computer (atfer depowering it and unplugging it) and connect it there while putting it in a stable place, that being where the HDD slots usually go. If your friends don’t want to go that route, they can buy the external ones and just plug them in via USB.

As for being a necessary requirement, they are only necessary if you want much better load times.

Blizzard don’t turn up to your house and break you kneecaps for playing with specs below the minimum requirements.

The game just runs like butts. And WoW without an SSD is already butts.

You can get a 240gb external SSD (which is more than enough for WoW) for like 80 AUD or a 1TB internal SSD for 145 of PCCG.

Could probably get it cheaper, but it’s not breaking the bank.

Its not a requirement but a recommendation.

I mean SSDs aren’t exactly cutting edge technology anymore. They’ve been around for at least a decade, its not a huge investment.

Why wouldnt you buy an SSD regardless when they are beyond cheap now? SSDs are the feature of storage anyways.

The system requirements have been telling me I can’t run WoW for years because of my video card, yet I’ve been running it for years. All system requirements are is a disclaimer that if CS can’t help you with the problem, it may be your hardware. You’ll still be able to run WoW on a HDD, it’ll just be slower load times and such.

I keep hearing his and I can say personally Dalaran nor much of anywhere take ages to load on HDD. Before I upgraded recently and bought a SSD I had WoW on a HDD and WoW never took anything close to a minue to load. 10 - 15 seconds was the most It took to load Dalaran. I have no idea where this idea is stemming from.

I haven’t built a rig without an SSD in years.
