Asking for additional servers when it comes to solutions for layering. If Blizzard opened up additional servers rather than use any layering, the end result would be in a bunch of low population servers down the line. Blizzard has said IF NEEDED, they’ll add new servers eventually, but right now they have enough. Layering actually prevents this drop off because everyone will be funneled into fewer servers. So when the drop off of players begins and layering is removed, a decent population will exist.

I’d rather deal with layering now than to deal with a ghost town of a server for months until Blizzard decides to merge realms like they inevitably had to do over time.

I concur with this

You mean sharding. We’ve been deceived to the max and this weekends stress test was proof of all these ghost towns.

Retail players should get out of these forums clearly they have ill will towards good ol wow. More servers are needed.

I dont listen to male belfs since tbc onwards. Fact is 250k was expected of 2004 launch. They got 1 mil. You think they are gonna less than that in todays world.

The real reason is arrogance from people like you and blizzard.
The arrogance of that this game is trash and everyone will quit 80% in weeks to come.

YEAH RIGHT game is WARCRACK for a reason. Its good and still holds up today. Good luck in 8.3

And you know, for a fact, that this drop off will occur?

You can’t cite populations of a game from over 15 years ago, given the time difference and not only that, but server infrastructure is different. Servers are better equipped to handle more people than they had. Your logic is unreasonable and illogical, insulting me doesn’t make your point more valid btw.

Im in the same thought boat as you, but inb4 OSRS type popularity and surpassing the retail version of the game in population.

If you look at ANY mmo, not just wow. Populations for servers start out extremely high, with people rushing into to play at launch. Over time less people play, and people play less often. That’s how it always works. I fail to see given that fact, why classic wow would suddenly be different.

I’m not a retail player and I agree with him. If more servers are needed Blizzards has stated they are prepared for that scenario as well, so chill out, enjoy the gameplay, and let the chips fall where they may.

Except for World of Warcraft, which grew in population over an eight year period.

Moreover, how often does this drop off occur? Is it a sharp drop off after a month or two? A slow drop over a year?

I think it will be fine and if more servers are needed then they will likely be added, but people stating definitively that there’s going to be this massive drop off within the first -insert short period of time- are just guessing and basing that off of nothing more than a feeling (and usually a belief that people new to Classic won’t be able to hack it).

We don’t know, I don’t and neither do you.

Population starts out high, then drops quickly within the first few months, then over time slowly lowers. New things being added or events bringing back a small margin. You can say ‘we don’t know.’ But the reality is, this is how populations have operated for every MMO launch / expansion launch, it’s safe to expect this. It’s much easier and safer to have layers than to bring out extra servers on the fly. Layers prevent the need to server merge down the road from this drop off.

I get you guys don’t want to deal with the layers (Even if it’s temporary which is the funny bit) but the consequences for some servers down the road is worse.

Do we have to compete with other players from OTHER servers for gathering nodes? If we do, that’s a huge con.

If we can group for instances with players from other realms, that’s a pro.

Honestly, just give us the best of both worlds without the cons.

No, layering only ‘layers’ players from one server. This effect will only last during phase one, after which, all players will exist on the same layer.

People would rather have many more servers, which will result in a bunch of lower pop servers than deal with layering. Which is crazy to me.

Layering (which is garbage) isn’t the only reason we want MORE servers - We want more servers because;

Brazillians have claimed Thalnos
Latins have claimed Faerlina
Streamers have claimed Herod

  • Oh and to top off the cake, Vanilla wow population at peak was higher than retail is now, the lack of servers is incredibly naive of Blizzard to think Vanilla won’t remain more popular than retail, and that launch day will be an entire disaster with queues in excess of 10K for each server.

So yes, MORE SERVERS

I honestly think you shouldn’t be playing a MMO if there are three groups of people that you act like you are above playing beside. Your prejudice against other people isn’t a valid reason to call for more servers.

So anyway~

We didn’t claimed nothing, the brazillian classic comunity opted to join themselves in a single server, but we are talking about 2-3 thousand players, not even close to a decent comunity to be impactant, fell free to join Thalnos, we’ll not be a problem.

That’s not the point, don’t try to make me out as being prejudice.

YOU CAN’T PLAY WITH A LANGUAGE BARRIER - WoW is a SOCIAL Game

And streamers will destroy the entire community with their fan boying.

That’s not the point, we need more servers. People should have a choice for a cohesive server made up of their own language. Latin servers SHOULD be added so Brazillians / Spanish speakers have a place to go.

It’s better for both of us, if you get grouped with a bunch of english speakers only and you don’t speak english you would feel ostracized.
