this is what people aren’t getting I think. this and the fact that forcing it on ourselves instead of doing it as a part of a community where everyone is on the same footing.
add on andies ignoring the fact that they can trade between their duos and trios freely because it is a closed system like the server will be
It would be cool to have it as an additional option in character select. Maybe add an achievement for it. But by no means should it be forced on the entire player base. That being said, if it were an option, I would probably only play that way. I love a good challenge.
I don’t see a problem with making the HC servers somewhat permissive by default and then just letting people impose extra challenge on themselves if they want. Not everyone wants to full SSF. Not everyone wants to be unable to group with friends. Not everyone wants all of the restrictions that go along with the community version.
People deciding they want to trade, or group, or keep playing if their friend/group mates die changes nothing for the people that decide they don’t want to do those things. The other players on bloodsail doing those things didn’t harm your ability to play HC there, did it? Then it won’t here, either. Get over it.
But on duos or trios you literally cannot log in and play unless you are together? It’s way different than doing that with anyone at any time.
What other players?
/s
Then don’t do it. That’s your choice. If your duo/trio wants to ride-or-die together then that’s your business, but it doesn’t have to be enforced on everyone. If you and your duo/trio only play/trade together nothing changes for you if the server enforces that on everyone or if you’re just enforcing it on yourselves.
its simple psychology. path of least resistance. we don’t want to play on a server where we are forcing ourselves to play at a disadvantage compared to everyone around us. that is always less than ideal. yes people are doing it because it is the only way they feel compelled to play the game which is otherwise entirely too easy in their opinion, but that doesn’t make it right.
on the flip side, if you play on a normal server, you only have to deal with the decision to just delete your character. people on the hc server, as it is designed, will constantly have to force themselves not to “cheat” for lack of a better word.
the dungeon thing is not that bad, an even the grouping isn’t a big issue, but the difference between trading and not trading, and using the ah and not using the ah is an ocean, or three.
they also have no choice but to play on a server surrounded with people obliterating everything with gear that is usually unobtainable at that point. they don’t have a choice, you do.
Let’s be real though… those “addon andies” that you despise are the whole reason why HC servers are even going to be a thing. Those “addon andies” are a huuuuge chunk of the classic era playerbase and are the reason why interest in HC servers existed in the first place.
Even the addon devs looked so relieved and happy to be chucking their addon in the original announcement interview.
And you can still have your SSF addon, and all the other players that love the Official HC “one rule: don’t die” can have it our way, too. Everyone’s happy!
Now quit being such a control freak. You still get your addon; be happy it’s even getting updated.
99% convinced Divnity dude wants to sell gold otherwise why would you ever want to trade / use the AH on the HC servers. There’s no purpose in faking your way to 60. When you get to 60 you unlock the right to have those benefits of the game. Until you earn it yourself - you don’t get the good stuff. IF you want to buy another lootbox game go buy one.
What mean ssf? Only think I can think is Sucky Sucky Fivedollar
ok i think what the SSF people don’t understand is the Trade/ah group is part of WOW and to take them out like you want would 1 been a long time to get done you might get those servers in 2024 maybe. next you wouldn’t be able to do raids or dungeons because both are tied to the grouping system. if you don’t want to trade with people click the little block trades and don’t go to the AH or group except in the dungeons and raids, or the most easy way stay on Bloodsail with the addon, and yes who knows maybe blizzard is trying to give you all a SSF server but like i said it will take a long time for them to take out those parts of the game( speaking as a game developer myself. its not as easy and select code delete code and nothing breaks).
Counter point: I always played Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 in Hardcore mode.
Trading was still a thing there. It did not ruin Hardcore.
That’s the experience I am hoping to get out of Classic Hardcore.
A different economy and community than Softcore.
That’s it.
Including social aspects does not equal “faking your way to 60”.
You want SOLO Hardcore. I want MMORPG Hardcore, including the social aspect.
You can limit yourself via addons as is currently done. I cannot open up the social aspects if Blizzard limits them.
they say they want the solo hardcore experience, but group run dungeons in a party i dont understand.
Go play a normal classic server and delete after a death then.
Its HARDCORE not WoW with 1 life
i dont want to force it on anybody, i want 2 servers
1 for gamers
1 for people who want to group/trade to 60
did you know respawning is also a part of wow?
lmfao
is this true? cuz I also heard that pvp is part of wow.
I’ll be as clear as I can: When hardcore was a community phenomenon, it was fun and exciting and a code of honor existed that drove me to delete several characters that died. When it is enforced by the game system instead, I simply won’t play it.
Maybe some folks are the opposite out there, leery of the addon and what it could potentially introduce. But I don’t know… any time Blizzard jumps into homebrew content, they manage to make it worse for everyone involved (both sides).
