Please stop making us the key between Main np’s and the places we are going. It’s really cringe. We should be important yes. But not up to this level. Stop talking about Azeroth as if everyone cares what happens to this world. My warlock doesn’t (for example). It really takes away the options for you to have the freedom to play your class/character.
The more you lock us into these abomination storylines. The more we are hindered to get immersed with the classes/characters we want to play. Give us the options at least. I wish we where irrelevant soldiers again. I wish we actually lost to a villain. I wish a war between factions had repercussions. THINGS HAVE TO MATTER STORYWISE.
The player character isn’t “your” character. You’re just basically playing the Main PC’s storyline, but it really isn’t a good idea to roleplay yourself as the main PC if that makes any sense.
up to ice crown dude. We weren’t that relevant until that time. Even then we still didn’t invade our character into the story like we do now. WOTLK felt in place and within the story. Now it’s a joke. We are special snowflakes left and right without any logical sense.
The reason this happens is so there’s a reason for us to play pivotal roles in important battles, for us to be trusted with the most important and plot-relevant tasks and so we can interact with the major lore characters.
If we were less important, it wouldn’t make sense for us to be hanging around racial leaders all the time, handling incredibly important artifacts and doing really important (see; plot-relevant) things if we were just an irrelevant soldier.
If you were an irrelevant soldier you would be doing irrelevant soldier things and would have very little to do with the actual plot of the expansion. You wouldn’t get to talk to major lore characters or do…basically anything of interest.
I hate this complaint because you’re asking for the lore to start making less sense instead of more. You’re asking for an irrelevant soldier to do all these cool, important things and never be recognized for it, ever.
It only makes sense that after doing the amount and degree of things our characters do that they’re absolutely legendary by this point.
We can be important enough to handle these tasks without being the hero of the story. We were plenty important in Wrath. We rubbed shoulders with major lore characters. We did important things. We helped defeat major enemies. In the end though, we were still just one of “these brave heroes” and that was more than enough for me.
. . . Oi! Speak fer yerself mate! I love me role as the hero, love feelin like my actions have meaning . . . Even if like a million other people are in the same position.
