Please.... Stop it

Extending Myth/Hero Track

  • 20 crests per dungeon

  • 1 dungeon takes about an hour

  • 16 pieces of gear means 480 crests

  • 480 / 20 = 24 hours of dungeon grinding 12s

  • This is a huge time sink just to get “caught up”, Stop it.

You essentially just added a huge grind to keep players busy on the same dungeons they’ve been grinding to max level.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt so confident that something was done purely to keep a player on the treadmill. Only thing close is when they nerfed gear acquisition in New World cause they didn’t develop any end game content. And that is one of the worst game launches of all time, so not really a good comparison point.

Time Gating Content

  • Stop it, seriously. I honestly thought Visions would bring me back but I logged in today and was immediately bored and frustrated that it took 2 visions to max out my tree for the week. Why did you not just make it an actual grind, but add catch up mechanics each week?

Valor Stones

Upgrading a weapon from ilvl 662 → ivl 684 costs 1800 valor stones… that isn’t even a full upgrade. That is a single slot that can far exceed the 2000 cap limit. What are we even doing?

  • Stop it

Re-crafting all of your max gear for new iLVL

  • This is token bait, stop it.

Getting sick of this Blizzard, the game isn’t fun when you are trying to maximize player retention and token sales. When you made the Dragonflight legendaries pure token bait, costing tons of gold, I sighed… but ultimately decided its a legendary weapon, its worth it for the player. But now it just feels lazy and thinly veiled.

Please start looking at a “Fun First” approach. My whole friends list is talking about unsubbing for the remainder of this patch or expansion, the exact opposite of what you’re trying to achieve I’m sure.

Ironically, the only players I know enjoying this, skipped the first half of the season. Let that sink in, they are enjoying it because they aren’t being gated, despite the massive grind.

I’m not very good at putting my thoughts into words, so forgive me, but it really just boils down to this entire patch feeling so hollow and unfun to me. It also feels really tone-deaf, to hit the player base with the surprise dinar nerf, then package the rest of these changes as a “TURBO BOOST! WOO FUN!” only for it to be a long re-grind so players can outgear stale content for no reason.

Well, MMO’s have always been about the grind.

Take the grind away and there really isn’t a game.

If you are doing dungeons that take an hour, you’re not getting 20 crests at all.

Find a better group and an efficient dungeon to spam and time it which is about 25 minutes each.

I was done upgrading every slot by Wednesday last week. It doesn’t take anywhere near as long as you think

Great post and you are a valued member of the WoW community.

I think this part of the patch with the gating is the biggest failure seen in a while.

Appreciate the replies, I’ll address a few but don’t plan to get into any arguments, just wanted to voice my feedback about the patch.

Typically a new grind is released with new content, my grudge isn’t with the grind, its the hollow nature of the grind. But agreed.

The hour was rounding up, based off a 30+ minute dungeon timer + finding the group + loot + going back to the city and doing it again. Yes I agree if you group with friends and are determined to get from A → B quickly you can do each one in 30~ minutes.

You’re making me hopeful when I want to be sad, please stop.

I mean no disrespect here because I’m very jealous of your ability to do so:

But you played the game for 10+ hours a day for those two days, didn’t you?

Not even close. Just upgrading all my old crests netted me nearly 200

Didn’t you post this a few weeks back?
If not you, you literally copy/paste the same exact malding post when the new mid season stuff started a few weeks back lol.

Then don’t do it.

If you’re already finished with your seasonal goals then there’s no reason to bother. If you aren’t finished, then 1. Why not? 2. Now you can have higher ilvl to get it done.

My statement still stands. Find a better group. Find a dungeon to spam. You don’t have to go back to the city. You can search for a group literally anywhere.

Don’t think so, but you can check my post history to confirm.

There’s no curtain anymore

Yeah I agree, thats why I said ‘Yes I agree’

personally got the gear from Nightfall stuff on 9 or 10 alts and Im good to go.
IF youre gonna be playing the top of the game, youre gonna have to do what blizzard makes you do to play it.
I doubt theyre ever gonna remove the gating or the grinding and if they did the “Im bored” army would tear this place apart, lol

Basically, you want to be sad on purpose? Lol, okay then.

I agree with you, grinding, can suck the fun out of the game. My initial comment was pointed more to the fact that there has to be a grind. I don’t think I quite understood your comment but now I do.

My goal for each season is KSM. Once I hit it I hop off the grind wagon until the next season. Sometimes I level an alt or maybe chase some mounts or achievements. Ultimately I control what I do and how much I grind.

When it stops being fun I stop doing it. For example I’ve completely abandoned crafting. This reworked version is a huge grind and I don’t like it so I don’t do it.

With that said, I’ve enjoyed m+ this season so much I might shoot for KSH.

If you’re struggling to complete keys in less than an hour you might want to consider looking into how to play your class better and partying with better players. They should only be taking around 35ish minutes max.

I’ve quite enjoyed them allowing us to improve our gear another 6 ilvls. It’s made 12s feel like 7s when they used to feel like 10s.

I’ve been playing almost daily since Dragonflight season 1 after taking a long break near the end of season 1 of Shadowlands, so this is just factually incorrect. It’s weird to just make up stuff to support your position.
