I just watched a Bellular video, and now he usually has really cool lore videos. However with each new video I watch, he just spends more and more time bashing WoW and hyping up FFXIV.
In the recent video I just watched, he even said he needed to cancel his WoW sub, because he was just going to play the free PTR to make money off of WoW, while also bashing it more.
That’s just trashy, and only furthers negativity and discontent within the community. Heck, when I see content creators bash and point out WoW flaws so often, it almost makes me feel bad for enjoying the game, and I end up second guessing wether or not I enjoy the game.
So please, start requiring people to have an active WoW sub to play the WoW PTR. Otherwise they won’t sub. They’ll just abuse the free PTR to make content (getting themselves money) and bashing the game in the process, thus driving more people away.
I thought you did need to sub? Or is it that you needed to buy the expansion that’s being tested? Either way, that’s kind of an interesting idea. Plus the PTR has those vendors that sell the gear and stuff already, that would be neat. Can you get the vault and whatnot in the PTR? And is everything already loaded up in there? And how are the pvp queues? Do your characters reset ever?
Also I’m not sure if making people pay to test their game is the best idea. It’s interesting to me that so many people do it for free.
Oh cool, he’s worth watching now. No more WoW shills is a hecking wonderful thing to see, well except for maybe the op. Oof.
Thanks for letting us know however!
Activision-Blizzard is a trash company and should be dragged through pig poop until they lose kotick and start investing in making quality games again and not time-metric cash flows.
I get it, hating on Content Creators has been a Thing for a very long time, so I know that wont change. However, the points being raised by Belluar and other content creators regarding the condition Wow is in right now are valid concerns and I for one am glad these concerns are talked about.
PTR contains the patch before it hits live and has all of the game’s contents in it. This is a huge problem. Especially when people are using it just to bash the game and make money off of it. When they obviously don’t really even enjoy it anymore. It’s messed up.
Plus, with PTR access, datamining is possible. So how many dataminers are in the same boat as Bellular, and are just making money off of the game’s files with articles on the content?
Pretty sure he makes way more off his views than the monthly sub. He has an entire crew that he pays salary to. $15/month won’t break his back.
I just think people need to stop caring so much what others are doing on focus more on themselves. I’d hate for you to lose sleep at night knowing he saves $15/h
The upsetting thing. Is he is profiting off of bashing WoW. He shouldn’t be making content just to bash the game.
There is nothing wrong with talking about the situation, and stating criticisms of the game. But he is clearly going far beyond it.
Why shouldn’t he be required to pay for a sub and at least be part of the community in a constructive fashion?
I mean, when all he does is spread negativity in a community. He becomes a toxic leech. He’s literally making money off of causing discourse in the community that essentially paid him to make a video game company of his own.
I’ve always known what datamining is, lol.
He doesn’t just talk about the company and his concerns. He legitimately does nothing but essentially bash WoW for FFXIV. How is that not a problem to you, when someone makes money off of the WoW community, just to crap on it?
On one hand I fully agree. He started a small indie game dev company and fancied himself a master of the field and went full WoW bad mode. He has been a very toxic figure for quite a while. Asmon gets most of the flak but IMO Belluar is worse.
But on the other hand, WoW is bad.
I think he lucked out with the direction WoW took, because he was going down the negative rabbit hole regardless.
With that said. PTR is public. Yes, it is a trashy move. But he isn’t doing anything wrong. Just tacky.
I’m saying he should be required to at least attempt to be a constructive community Pillar. There is a reason Content Creators are called influencers.
And he’s become nothing but a detriment to the community. That’s what’s trashy. His making a money off the game, only to hate on it. Like move on dude, stop trying to leech off of discourse.
Completely disagree. It’s a video game from a multi-billion dollar company. Anyone should be able to “bash” it in anyway they see fit on any platform they may have.
Nevermind the fact that he’s been a voice in this community for as long as anyone can remember to start with, the idea that paying a sub gives you the right to speak is quite possibly one of the most ridiculous demands I’ve read on this forum and that’s saying, well, everything.
Clearly not if you think that Bellular is datamining the PTR to make profit, LOL.
No one even needs to datamine anything from this game to make content out of it when wowhead posts every single bit of datamined information the second anyone gets it.
We can all agree that WoW is a very bad state right now. Not to mention all the fires happening at Blizzard that need to be put out rather quickly.
That’s his opinion & should be treated as such.
He will say he hates Shadowlands dungeons…Okay, good for him.
Everyone is capable of forming their own opinion. Or at least I certainly hope so.
Does that potentially push away new potential players, perhaps. But again, is it his fault?
This is his way of sharing feedback. A lot of his feedback does make sense. We can’t expect the game to get better without certain well-known content creators pointing out some of the issues.
And don’t be fooled, he is an entertainer. He follows community feedback. If everyone absolutely hates Plaguefall, he won’t come out and say he loves it. He will follow the community, though eh may think otherwise himself.
He’s not going “beyond” criticizing the game. He’s comparing it to a direct competitor. You’re just butt hurt he’s bashing something you like. Just move on with your day.
I was using it as an example. That maybe Dataminers don’t even play the game either. I NEVER claimed Bellular datamined it.
He doesn’t need a sub to speak. But he should have one to play the game through the PTR and make content on the game. That he’ll get paid for, when all he does is spread toxicity on it.
Again, he is a WoW influencer, that’s how he got his money. He moved to FFXIV, but still milks WoW for cash when he clearly doesn’t even like it anymore and that’s ate up.
I get the don’t like it, don’t watch. But WHY should he be allowed to play the game for free to get all of the content he needs to make more money and bash the game more?
If he doesn’t like it, he shouldn’t be making such toxic videos in my opinion. But as far as ethically speaking, he shouldn’t be able to have all he needs to crap on the game and make money off it, without paying a cent or even attempting to be a constructive or positive community member.
It’s not a problem to me because everyone has a right to say whatever they want to say about a video game. He isn’t targeting people in the community, he’s sharing his opinions on the game.
The game is not the community.
Again, you seem to think influencers should only be positive even when things are not positive. If he thought the game was good he’d still be making videos about how great the game is and nursing on Activision’s toes like he used to.
I don’t even like the guy, he’s annoying and says the stupidest things in the most arrogant ways butit’s absolutely his right to that.
You should be more upset as to why the game is so bad that literally all of the biggest names in the community are jumping ship.
Instead you just don’t want anyone to talk about it like some kind of PTA mom.
