As a returning player for 8.3, I am about to be done catching up on 8.2 essences this week. It has been a serious time investment that was mostly mind-numbing, boring WQ grind. Being someone that enjoys playing multiple classes and a bit of an altoholic I would love to play some of my other characters in 8.3 but I DO NOT see myself doing this for an alt atm. I cannot sink 2 hours a day for multiple weeks on an alt just to have him be playable in current content.

I think this is just what you’ve got until 9.0.

They won’t. My best advice is to just stop playing alts. Blizzard doesn’t balance the game around opinions, they balance it around numbers. Eventually their numbers will show that less people are playing alts, and only then will they consider changing it.

I guess I’ll have time to grind 6 months old essences on alts during the over 6 months we have before new content releases. shrug
At this point I think we just have to accept they’re not willing to invest anymore resources to improving the game, probably because they’re not really going to generate additional revenue from it. They’re going to focus on shadowlands. Smart money is they’re going to rush it because we’re looking at a huge content gap between now and then.
