I know fun is subjective but it is the most disheartening thing in this game when you farm a rep for several days/weeks just to hit that 10k mark and not get the reward you are going for. This often times goes on for months and sometimes years per rep. I just got my Valarjar Stormwing a month or two ago.
Now I’m back at it for The Enlightened, Ven’ari, Archivists Codex, and Death’s Advance. It’s not a fun gameplay loop to grind all the way to exalted and then have to grind even more rep endlessly until we get lucky. Please rethink Paragon boxes or rework them entirely.
One idea I had for a rework: Make each paragon box drop a currency which can be used to buy the mount if you are unlucky. The precedent for this exists with the covenant anima conductor mounts being purchasable with anima and gratefuo offerings. This would make the entire system much more desirable because you can get lucky and end the grind early, but there is an end in sight.

I’m just crossing my fingers that the paragon bags from this expansion get the same buff that the previous expansions ones got.

I like paragon rep. I have something to do after exalted. But I don’t farm it. I just let it come naturally and then I get a nice Christmas present.

I thought these were separate things in DF?
It hasnt really been confirmed if paragon is completely going away… but from what Ion/feasal said regarding showing a clear reward path it seems like it. Idk for sure though

I personally like the paragon caches. I do agree that the Legion ones were horrible but since the buff to drop chance they got somewhat recently, they were perfect. I don’t think it took more than 2 or 3 Paragon caches to get the mounts from the Shadowlands ones, and one or two I got in the first box. Shadowlands seemed to have a pretty darn good drop chance.
But they are a nice passive source of gold (each current exp one gives around 3.5k) so I’d hate to see them go.

The paragon system would be fine if it was just a box of gold. Hell, most times it is just a box of gold because I ain’t getting a mount or egg.

Yeah they really are awful. I got incredibly lucky on the Legion ones and got my stormwing along with the other mounts from maybe 2-4 paragon chest attempts.
Can’t imagine farming those over and over again just to come up empty. One of the worst grinds in game that should severely nerfed post xpac.

Is this including the patch drops or just 9.0? The 9.0 mounts were extremely high drop rate. The Russet Bufonid pattern and the Death’s Advance/Archivist’s Codex mounts seem rarer.
No, these have been common for me as well. I got The Archivist on first chest and I think 2 chests for one in Zerith Mortis. I got the mount before the pet heh.
BFA could use a little tweaking though to be more inline with the new Legion and Shadowlands ones. They still seem a bit stingy overall.

I wouldn’t care if they take mounts away from the caches and stick em somewhere not rng, like the rep vendor. I just don’t want them gone entirely because it is nice to get rewarded every once in awhile for continuing to do open world stuff.
Paragon caches are great. Free stuff is free stuff.
The only buff it really needs is bad luck protection like Legion now has and I’m even fine with that kicking in once the expansion enters legacy mode.
Paragon boxes should reward tokens you can spend on mounts, pets, transmog, and toys that drop from the boxes. You might get lucky and just open the cool mount you want, or you can just save a token or two and buy it.
Add some variety and make the boxes available at a faster rate and suddenly you have a much more interesting system imo.
Paragon boxes right now just don’t give me any reason to want to interact with the system. It just happens and I get annoyed when I have to go back and get mounts from past expansions because they never dropped for me.
