My imp, Piptip, dies so much in MC that it’s just easier to not summon him.
Did you tell him not to stand in the fire and use protection pots? Honestly skill issue on the imps part.

In all seriousness, they really have to fix lock pets, especially the imp, whose healthpool has not scaled at all, lnor the mitigation, while randomly being hit with every npc ability on the planet.
The imp arbitrarily rips threat off the tank in 5 mans - its odd.
Poor destro support locks are really getting kicked in the succubus. Run all the support buffs while having their imp die 3 secs into a fight.

normally they aren’t worth responding to in good faith (which is why i’m not directly replying), but i’m going to make this post anyway for the benefit of other forum-goers who could use a more thorough explanation of the problem us locks are running into with our imps in MC
here’s a little secret: if your imp attacks, phase shift turns itself off and cannot be turned on again until you and your imp are out of combat
in normal everyday content, locks get both imp buffs AND imp dps. even machine gun imp builds won’t rip threat against anyone remotely competent and aoes are properly tuned to not hit imps, so we can freely add imp dps to whatever it is we’re doing. which is how imps are supposed to be used in the first place.
i find it worth mentioning that imps got buffed a while back to also gain mana when locks use life tap, which communicates to me that blizz intends for them to be able to dps for entire fights
in MC, on the other hand, various fight mechanics and aoes frequently target imps and hit hard enough to delete them outright. so we have to pick between imp buffs and a brief window of imp dps
the OP of this thread is attempting to bring it to blizz’s attention that imps are not currently able to dps for entire fights in MC, because raidwide damage and certain mechanics are targeting them. the OP of this thread desires this to be changed. i do too.

destro builds are using master summoner and fel domination right now to combat that. On rag personally im using felhunter so I can keep demonic pact up for the raid.
Have you tried to play a hunter and toss explosive trap everytime its off CD?
idea 1 (boring):
Give a book from hydraxian rep (honored) that buffs imp fire resist by 300
idea 2 (Op/reaching):
let felguard independtly have demonic sacrifice as an ability so we can sacrifice it for quad buff without wasting 20 talent points. thus not being dependent on pet surviving to actually play class (similar to hunter lone wolf)
idea 3 (best idea):
give felhunter shadowbite - lower its cd by imp lash of pain talent - make felhunter actually do enough damage in raid that in tandem to its strong magic resist, interrupt ability, and dispell it could actually be a very viable pet. It just needs a primary damaging ability.
That and isn’t the imp a non-trivial amount of a destro lock’s dps or was that just prior phases?
From what I can tell, imps are being targeted by the abilities of NPCs while not having the mitigation of a player. So they die in a global.
I’m curious to know if hunters have the same issue, but they probably don’t play with a pets and/or run BM for it to matter as much.
yeah the imp was something like 10-20% in previous phases. no idea what it is now because most locks use felguard now so i don’t think it’s actually been mathed yet
and the best part about felguard is that he doesn’t even have phase shift to survive MC’s nonsense even if you don’t have him attack
they all run lone wolf now since ranged is meta and its meta/bis to run it
I doubt that’s true considering that would mean that destro is giving up incinerate and affli is giving up UA…
Phase shift doesnt work in fight like ragnaros…the imp anyway dies in lava. And so whats the purpose of a shifted pet -.-
The warlock tank main defensive “demonic grace” requires an active pet to activate being a completely useless rune in a few fights because the pet die 10 sec before pull.
This is a great point as well. How are warlock tanks fairing in MC?
at least most tank locks use felguard in that slot now /shrug
yea felguard definitely has value for warlock tank with master summoner, and especially on a single target boss vs. immo aura.
tanks definitely do not comprise “most” warlocks
When demo locks run felguard, does the 20% threat reduction apply, and if so…I guess that threat loss is nbd for a tank lock?
