I still see the improved blizzard talent is using the terrible 9.2 frost mage nerfs. Let’s change that cool down reduction from 0.3 to 0.5 so frost Mage AOE isn’t so boring anymore.
I know a lot of newer mages don’t understand that the Blizzard/Orb synergy has been around for over a decade. Loosing it still feels pretty bad, frost mage AOE is boring without it.

It was a weird, slapdash rushed nerf they did instead of actually looking at the root cause. Easier just to bump one number down and call it a job well done.
In reality, they should consider other options such as target-capping the CDR. The issue only came from coordinated M+ groups in high keys pulling massive packs, but the changes affected 2-target or small packs just as heavily (or more). The solution would be to keep it at 0.5s but cap it to 5 targets affected so it has a large impact on big packs and no impact on cleave.

It’s funny how they did that but then they are giving warlocks and survival hunters more nuanced nerfs and single target buffs to compensate.

Omg, what about while IV is active, each flurry proc (or something) has a small chance to drop a ROP. or a mini ROP. That would be pretty cool. But also adds to the proc/rng that is frost already.
[Icy Propulsion] already doesn’t include AoE spells in Dragonflight, so that problem has been resolved. You are not resetting [Icy Veins] fast enough anymore for that to matter.

So let’s revert that frozen orb CDR to like was for the past 10+ years.
Blizzards, orbs and ice lances are totally fun way to AOE and that’s been destroyed or severely hampered.
I do not want to be chucking frost bolts for my AOE anymore.
Why I would say nerf rune of power generation is because All the orbs would proc tonnes of FoF Ice lances. That would lead to a feed back loop with the right Lego of constant Icy Veins resets and almost infinite RoP uptime.
Let’s get that fun blizzard, Orb spam FoF Ice Lance AOE spam game play back.

At best we’ll get Icy Veins for every other pack. No aoe cdr? 1 sec cdr? Frost will not keep up. I think it’s their intention to keep Frost behind Fire.
Not to mention our mage tower was balanced around it.

No. Stop trying to make IV a good cooldown by pushing players to have it up 100% or tying it to other existing spells. Just remove IP and make IV a cooldown worth using.
Nothing new there, they’ve been pushing that narative since late TBC.

Right now on Beta it is a single talent choice of 0.25 CDR or a massive boost to Frozen orbs damage. There is no way to get it back via talents
Frost mage Single target right now feels in a good state in Beta, but AOE is in a sad state
Returning frozen orb cooldown reduction back to being anytime you applied a chill effect not just blizzard. It would be a minor buff for our single target and would give a reason to use cone of cold during aoe.

I would not worry about frosts Single target rotation, the new DF talents have really smoothed it out. The charge system for Flurry is wonderful in mitigating the Proc Dry spells frost can suffer from.
The CoC damage Buff needs design work. Playing it in Beta it felt like to took to long to build up a large amount of charges for an impactful burst (15-20+). The percent % chance to build a charge makes the damage ramp slow. I find myself casting it normally a lot on retail keys to help my group/tank. Also you need to sink 2 talent points into it for the best chance of building damage boost points.
I am just asking for them to revert frost AOE to the way it was before 9.2. Just double that CDR from a 0.25 back to its 0.5 original form.

I agree with you. Another thing freezing winds did for us was allow us to do damage while moving as well. Now on bosses like grimer or whatever in Junkyard, or during the blizzard part of shade of medivh, we are stuck with a couple casts by sending unempowered ice lances to get the additional 2k dps in there. lol.

I don’t know enough to say and who knows what the balancing will be. I got a feeling Lonely Winter will be the way to go.
Why I would say this is because Bone Chilling effect has been stripped from our Water Elemental talent and is now it’s own talent. They need to buff our WE ice bolt damage or do something awesome with it. Currently our WE really lacks purpose other than the off GCD Freeze spell it does and it’s ice bolts.
Right now Lonely winter can be taken and we can also get the Bone Chilling benefit with the current iteration of the talent tree.
The elemental now is irrelevant. It will only ever be used for extra shatters on AoE, but even then that might be super niche or even very unlikely. The elemental needs a small rework like either giving it more abilities or turning it into a DPS cooldown if it will ever be antithesis to [Lonely Winter].
