As someone that loves playing off specs and making them work with a little talent magic ect and San’layn was just fine using vampiric blood as its catalyst, but once again we have another specialty tied to dancing rune weapon.
While San did less damage overall when compared to Deathbringer, its up time due to vampiric blood talents made it fairly enjoyable and having vampblood up nearly every pack was fun and different than the way most BDK’s were playing but still viable through 11s in M+ and heroic raid.
The only think San really needed was some sort of defensive option that matched closely or a little more than deathbringer since it was weaker offensively. Maybe something along the lines of an avoidance talent buff to parry was always my idea to allow it to stand apart from deathbringer.
And the pet needed something else, even a tweak to make it not explode outside of combat and maybe some execute damage incase it blows at the very end.
But having it on dancing rune weapon kills the previous build that made it work and now feels clunky as hell since vampblood “could” be used with other defensive options since its up time was so high but Dancing rune weapon doesn’t have nearly the same uptime even with the button bloat of Tombstone and Bonestorm ( I could have sworn you guys were trying to get away from the button bloat).
So overall its:
Weak Healing ( go figure a vampire skill that doesn’t heal worth anything)
Weaker Damage
Shorter Uptime
Weaker Graphics
Lunatic pet
Weaker Defensives
So Blizzard why, As a BDK, would i even want to touch this heroic talent set with its current outlook?
Hiya. I agree as a San Layn player, Vamp Blood was fine. It didn’t feel bad. There is the upside now that I don’t have to put 2 talents into Improved Vampiric Blood if I don’t want to though.
That being said I don’t entirely hate the change to Dancing Rune Weapon, it’s just super weird now because I normally pop rune weapon on my first GCD of a dungeon to get bones while I round up mobs. Can’t really do that anymore or I’ll waste 5 to 8 seconds of haste buff. So it’s overhauled my opener and I haven’t sat down to think about a better sequence.
I just hate ANOTHER time we get something they want to tie it to DRW, I mean its not the ONLY thing we have that could be a catalyst for a hero tree, and frankly fits the vampiric theme much better than DRW.
Ive been doing 10s before the sanlayn change just fine with no trouble whatsoever in stable groups.
The waisting of GCDs while using DRW to keep you alive in the round up is a thing now and i really don’t like it. The having to build around the old way was overall better IMO (subjective I know) even if it had to be built and played differently.
I mean my post literally goes into my experience in a dungeon. I don’t pvp, and if I did idk why I’d play a tank spec. Don’t you get your armor halved in a PvP game if you’re a tank spec?
Regardless, the vamp blood to dancing rune weapon change is clunky in m+ because a buff you gotta stack competes for GCDs with the standard opener, so you’re in a dilemma of needing a suboptimal opener or not using the window for getting stacks.
