So I’m half-way through raid tonight with the new energy, and combined with the energy ticks giving 19-22 energy, the new rotation is incredibly inconsistent and you feel like you have to change up your rotation every second based on what luck throws at you. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to have a set rotation right now because a 19 energy tick can throw you off entirely if you’re trying to do a double mangle, which you need to keep up at all times.
Cat is just an absolute mess right now. Something has to be changed.

If anyone from the Blizzard team played a power shifting feral Druid in classic then tried it out during this pre patch they would immediately revert the change.

Blizzard has already expressed willingness to change fundamental mechanics (seal twisting) to better suit their game design philosophy of reasonable changes. As the already-bottom-of -the-barrel TBC DPS specs with a dedicated following, this will go down as one of blizzard’s biggest out-of-touch mistakes in classic if it isn’t reverted. The longer there is before any official response will result in a more frustrated/insulted community of dedicated players who otherwise adore the class’ playstyle

During blizzcon Patrick Dawson said “With Burning Crusade, rather than have us just answer ‘this is how it was’, the question is, well, what do you think it should be? And we’ll listen. Because ultimately, we’re making a game for the people that want to play it.” That’s exactly what this situation sounds like…

2.0 energy or partial tick powershifting is more fun to me than 2.4.3 powershifting. this isnt about performance. Our class is the lens through which we experience the game, and it feels like that has been taken away arbitrarily. I loved feral druid in classic era and in classic, powershifting is really fun. In TBC Classic it isn’t. If this comes down to “what do you think it should be?” I couldn’t see anything possibly being higher on the list. If this isn’t something you plan on changing, we are really curious as to why.

This energy change knocks an already mediocre cat dps down to bottom of the barrel. This change means even attempting to play cat dps is highly frowned upon for raids if that player is not also one of the tanks. Many people enjoy the feral cat dps gameplay without wanting to be pressured to be a tank, a role that gives many people anxiety. Please revert the energy change or create something to compensate for the loss of play style/damage.

that playstyle also existed for the majority of the content in actual BC 
kara/gruuls/mag/tk/bt and the first few arena seasons will now be experienced with the nerfed resetting shifting ticks for the first time by players
edit: man thinking about it, that’s actually so goofy- a bis geared feral with the perfect rotation(i mean probably didn’t exist but still) back in the day would be able to out parse any identically skilled/geared TBC Classic feral in almost all of the BC raids thanks to us getting this late BC tick iteration

This is from Patrick Dawson at Blizzcon. This is how all ferals want to play. It’s the rotation we’ve been playing all of classic. It was live all of beta and ptr until just before prepatch. It’s what makes feral such a fun class to play and it is in no way OP.
